AVIATIONEU NEW ERA SAE...

MIL-spec were initially developed to standardize wires and cables used in military equipment. For many years, wires used in aircraft met MIL-W-5086  mil-spec and SAE-AS50861 standards superseeding them. They were manufactured with the use of tin-coated copper conductors rated at 600 volts and temperatures of 105°C and various insulating coatings including polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The PVC insulation provided resistance to abrasion, among many other things. Still in production, MIL-W-5086  cables in their various types of conductors and jacket constructions are used, apart from the aircraft in other applications that require resistance to abrasion, cut-through, impact, chemicals, and fuels. They are gradually replaced by those made in accordance with Mil-W-22759 standard due to toxic fumes generated by PVC insulation in the event of a fire. The Mil-W-22759 standard transitioned to SAE AS22759 in 2004. These two standards are essentially identical and cover a of wide range of single conductor wires (please refer to the Product Description section and supplied documentation for assistance).

Sourced from quality producers, AS22759/M22759 wires are offered as part of our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines in different configurations, various AWG(*) sizes, in white or other color variations (depending on their selected product reference number). They are suitable for use in a range of applications in military and civilian aircraft, in harsh aircraft engine environments, for control surfaces as well as applications in areas subject to severe weather and moisture-prone (SWAMP).

Those commonly used are SAE AS22759/16  unshielded wires (replacing wires produced as per M22759/16 /17/18 and /19  specifications) but other configurations can be available. This specification uses stranded tin plated copper or silver plated high strength alloy conductors and extruded ethylene/tetrafluorbethylene (ETFE) insulation. Respective wire ratings are 150° C and 600 Volts.

The AVIATIONEU NEW ERA AS22759/M22759 wires are sold in pre-determined lengths in feet indicated in the product reference number (SKU). They are commonly packed in carousels, reels or spools. Cut-to-order lengths in 10 ft increments are also offered. Accompanied by our Certificate of Conformance (CoC) free of charge or Manufacturer Certificate of Conformance (CoC) if required at additional charge. Some of the offered wires are additionaly QPL listed(**) as specified in their product title.

(*) American Wire Gauge (AWG): Wire gauge is a measurement of wire diameter. This determines the amount of electric current a wire can safely carry, as well as its electrical resistance and weight.

(**) Included in U.S. DoD Qualified Products List (QPL) of products, components, or materials, often used in aerospace or military applications, examined, pre-tested & found to conform with all applicable standards or qualification requirements set by a certifying organization or government entity.

Aircraft & Industrial...

Metal cables are are stranded wires used in a wide variety of applications in aviation and many other industries. The term "wire rope" is also used when the cable diameter is larger than 3/8" (9.52 mm), with smaller gauges designated as cables or cords. They are specified in terms of their construction by the number of strands times the number of wires in each strand. For example, “7x19” means the cable with seven (7) strands, and 19 wires in each strand. 7x19 is the most flexible cable, approximately twice as flexible as its 7x7 counterpart.

Aircraft cables are encountered on or around the aircraft including flight control surfaces and tie-downs or other uses. In contrast to the commercial (industrial use) cables, aircraft  cables undergo extensive testing and are lubricated providing substantially better fatigue life. They conform to MIL-DTL-83420 specification. Sourced by leading manufacturers such as CONTINENTAL CABLE or CENTRAL WIRE Group of Companies (CWI) they are offered with or without coating (jacket) in different constructions, materials (such as galvanized carbon steel or stainless steel), diameters in inches and pre-cut or cut-to-order lengths in feet. Many of the offered aircraft cables are also included in U.S. DoD Qualified Products List (QPL) which relates to products, components, or materials, often used in aerospace or military applications, which have been examined, pre-tested & found to conform with all applicable standards or qualification requirements set by a certifying organization or government entity.

Different flight control cables, general use cable, cable assemblies and related parts from various manufacturers (*) are also offered either as OEM or FAA-PMA approved parts including our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines aircraft and industrial (general use) cables for applications when no compliance to MIL specifications is required. AVIATIONEU NEW ERA...

Anchor nuts (aka nutplates or anchor plates) are terms used interchangeably and relate to stamped sheet metal fasteners with an internally threaded tube and a plate with two clearance holes for rivets. They are used in blind mounted panel applications in aerospace and other industrial sectors where hex nuts cannot be used or an attached nut is required for ease of maintenance.

Anchor nuts can be Fixed or Floating, the latter being easier to use due to their built-in nut (threaded hole) able to "float" slightly thus providing a convenient connection point for threaded rods, such as bolts, from the backside. In the case of Fixed anchor nuts, the built-in nut is static (i.e. without the capability to “float”) and the threaded rod must be positioned perfectly over the hole. Self-locking anchor nuts are those with a built-in locking mechanism preventing them from loosening over time from vibrations. They are extensively used in aerospace, automotive, and construction industries.

Depending on their intended application, nutplates conform to different military, aerospace, ISO or other industrial standards such as the German DIN, U.S. (ASME & ASTM, IFI, ANSI), British BS, Japanese JIS and others. They are offered as OEM parts under their respective brands or under our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines intended as cost-effective alternatives to the respective OEM products.
