MS20001 Standard Structural...

Hinges provide a smooth pivot mechanism for doors, panels, cabinets, and many other applications. Military-standard hinges, such as MS20001 and MS20257 series are widely used for their durability and precision engineering offering exceptional strength and performance. Sourced from quality manufacturers, MS20001 and MS20257 series hinges (separately presented) are offered as OEM parts or under our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines as Butt or Continuous  (aka Piano) hinges. Butt hinges, the most common type, feature two leaves joined by a pin for simple and robust pivot action. MS20001 extruded aluminum hinges are made of either 2024-T4 or of 7075-T6511, two very strong metals and used primarily in structural applications. Those of MS20257 series with bent hinge loops are made of a softer, weaker grade of aluminum, are less expensive but they should not be used as substitutes for the MS20001 hinges in structural applications.

H. A. GUDEN Co. MS20001 hinges are manufactured  in accordance with MS20001P Military Specification (Mil-Spec) Standard typically in continuous lengths. Materials include aluminum alloys 2024-T3511 per SAE-AMS-QQ-A-200/3, ASTM-B221, ASTM B241/B241M or 7075-T73511 per SAE-AMS-QQ-A-200/11, ASTM B241/B241M, ASTM-B221. Finish options include plain, anodize in accordance with MIL-A-8625, Type II or chemically surface treat in accordance with MIL-DTL-5541. Parts can be supplied as full lengths and in any of the standard MS20001 half hinge designations of X, Y of H style hinges (*). Additional custom/special features such as countersunk holes, cut outs, PEMs, slots, bends, offsets are also offered. The full MS20001 series part number is stamped at regular intervals along the length of each hinge.

Those offered as part of AVIATIONEU NEW ERA product lines are are mostly offered as piano hinges, made from aluminum alloys and adhere to the respective MS20001 or MS20257 Mil Standards for their materials and construction. The MS20001 series piano hinges are lightweight (about half the weight of steel) and exhibit mild corrosion resistance. They have a standard clearance with the distance between the leaves being approximately the same as the pin diameter when they are closed. Offered in standard lengths of 72.0" and furnished with cadmium-plated 302 stainless steel hinge pins. They do not come with mounting holes which have to be drilled, unless otherwise specified.

OEM & AVIATIONEU NEW ERA hinges are sold in pieces as assembly with CRES hinge pins. The number  after the dash in the product reference number (SKU) denotes the hinge length in inches (in.). For example, the number "7200" in the part number  denote a MS20001 series hinge 72 inches (6 feet) long.
