High-Speed Steel (HSS) is a metal alloy made up primarily of iron, tungsten, and carbon. It's known for its hardness, toughness, and ability to withstand high temperatures without losing its strength or shape. It also has excellent abrasion resistance properties, which make it useful for cutting tools. HSS drill bits are extremely hardwearing and particularly well designed for drilling into relatively hard metal surfaces and wood, as they are much more resistant to the heat generated from the fast speed operation. The front edges cut the material, whilst the spirals remove debris from the hole. Apart from HSS, Cobalt is often used as an alloying agent in steels to improve the hardenability, strength, and wear resistance in machining applications but also due to its ability to resist wear at higher temperatures while still maintaining its strength and shape. Cobalt-based alloys are typically harder than HSS alloys but are also more prone to cracking or chipping if not handled properly. Compared to HSS drill bits which are more elastic and, as such, don't break easily, those containing cobalt are more brittle and chip quickly.

JIFFY® AIR TOOL pioneered the “Modular Tool” platform for drill motors and attachments (JMD). JIFFY® motors can accept a wide variety of drill attachments to meet limited access requirements.JIFFY® Pistol Grip Straight style drilling tools are offered in models with forward running, reverse running and reversible functions, safety trigger option, 250 – 20,000 RPM, and 0.3 – 1.5 HP.  Available Thread Sizes: 1/4-28, 10-32, 9/32-40, 5/16-24, 3/8-24 and 7mm Collet.

Modular Fastener Installation Tools (JMI)

With JIFFY® modular fastener installation platform installation motors can accept a wide variety of install attachments to meet limited access requirements. The latter are available in 17° indexable or fixed, 20° indexable or fixed, “L”, and straight install type offered in various series correlating to the torque capacity of the fastener. Their versatility is further enhanced by the three offered drive styles: a socket and key system,a flush gear with a key and a hex through with no key control to allow access to confined space installations.

In addition to the modular installation tools, ratchet install tools in straight, 17° and 20° head styles are also available. Their pneumatic ratchet wrenches can be used for HI-SHEAR fastener (*) installation quickly, easily, and efficiently. Their new & improved spring loaded hex tip holder allows the use of special hex tips that will hold the HI-LOK™ style fastener in place when installing non-interference fasteners. With the new & improved design, hex tips are easier than ever to change and can literally be changed in just a few seconds.JIFFY®  sockets and hex tips (sold separately) can be used with these wrenches.

 (*) HI-SHEAR CORPORATION Fastening System includes HI-LITE™, HI-LOK™ and HI-LOK™/HI-TIGUE™ pin and collar fastener combinations. The HI-LOK™ fasteners are the second most used fasteners in aircraft structural assembly after the solid rivets MS20470 and MS20426. The HI-LOK™ fastener system includes a rivet pin (similar to a screw but with additional advantages) and a collar (similar to a nut). Rivet Pin Gauges from HI-SHEAR CORPORATION,  subsidiary of LISI AEROSPACE, can be used for inspection or measurement of correct grip length of HI-LITE™ / HI-LOK™ rivet pins. Different HI-SHEAR Pin Protrusion Gauges are offered for respective HI-LITE™ / HI-LOK™series pins. HI-SHEAR Grip Gauge Assemblies can be used to measure the “grip length” of HI-LOK™ and HI-LITE™ pins, shear lockbolts, structural screws and bolts. The HI-SHEAR 2-651 Grip Gauge Assembly includes one HI-SHEAR 2-612 Grip Gauge & one HI-SHEAR 2-615 Grip Gauge Slide. The 2-612 Grip Gauge measures in increments 1/16” to 3”(1 mm to 75 mm). Made from spring temper stainless steel, 3/4" x 6-1/4".

This top quality TEXTRON LYCOMING Baffle Spring Compressor speeds up the removal & installation of cylinder baffle springs. It eliminates the danger of broken or bent cylinder fins caused by use of screwdrivers and punches. This tool is easy to use and features two pivot locations for parallel and angle valve cylinders.

ATI® TOOLS 501 series aerospace heavy duty rivet cutters are designed to quickly and easily shear aluminum rivets. They are adjustable for 1/4˝ to 3/4˝ long rivets in 1/16˝ increments. Available in two models with standard handle (ATI 501R) and long handle (ATI 501S).

High speed steel (HSS) drill bits are extremely hardwearing and particularly well designed for drilling into metal surfaces, as they are much more resistant to the heat generated from the fast speed operation. The front edges cut the material, whilst the spirals remove debris from the hole. ATI® TOOLS HSS  made threaded shank drill bits feature a 135° split point and a 1/4"-28 threaded shank. POP® PRG510A/MCS510A series air rivet guns are strong, compact, and trouble-free pneumatic tools ideal for continuous high-production riveting. Αvailable with either a deflector (PRG) or with a Mandrel Collection System (MCS). The PRG-511 A offers an extended nose housing for improved access. Offered product porfolio of countersink cages & cutters from U.S Ait Tool Company (USATCO) includes an extensive range of High Speed Steel (HSS) & Cobalt  integral (fixed) pilot countersink cutters, Micro-Stop countersink cages & kits used in aerospace and industrial applications. High Speed Steel (HSS) countersinks are well suited for cutting aluminum sheet metals.
