Thermal fluids (aka thermal oils, thermic fluids, thermo fluids, heat transfer fluids, heat transfer oils, hot oils, thermic oils or thermo oils.) are specialized liquids used to transfer heat from one point to another in various industrial processes, including chemical processing, oil and gas refining, and power generation. Designed to operate at high temperatures they can provide efficient and reliable heat transfer, even under extreme conditions. Selecting the right transfer fluid depends on its thermal properties, which include its viscosity, heat capacity, the heating system it’s used in, and the application itself.  When dealing with complex applications that may have multiple heat transfer options and therefore specific calculations may be required. Factors such as the temperature and pressure requirements of the application, combined with the thermal properties of a fluid and the limitations of the heater need to be considered. There are different types of thermal fluids including water, glycol, organic (derived from petroleum) and synthetic (produced from advanced chemical processes) offered under respective brands of their producers such as Eastman (Therminol®/Marlotherm®), Dow Chemical (Dowtherm™), ExxonMobil (Mobiltherm™), and others.

Key properties of heat transfer fluids include thermal stability, low viscosity, high flash and fire points, and low toxicity helping to ensure safe and reliable operation of heat transfer systems. Their selection depends on various factors, including the operating temperature range, heat transfer efficiency requirements, system design, and safety considerations.

Sourced from quality producers, thermal fluids are offered as part of our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines in different grades and packaging options including 210-Liter drums and 26-Liter pails. Based on different blends, AVIATIONEU NEW ERA heat transfer fluids can be used for heating and cooling processes in a variety of industrial applications resulting in economy, efficient operations, minimum maintenance, and precise temperature control.  Indicative industries of their application include: hydrocarbon processing (oil and gas, natural gas, refining, etc.), plastics processing, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage processing, renewable energies and many others. They exhibit similar characteristics, equivalent performance and consist cost effective alternatives to respective competitive brands. Depending on the selected product, they exhibit features and benefits outlined below:

Water heat transfer fluids can be highly effective for many applications. Water is highly conductive and boasts high heating capacity and therefore excellent for heating and cooling. It can also facilitate pharmaceutical production, food processing, medical equipment, and more. The main disadvantage is that the water must be pure, or else impurities may clog and corrode heating equipment.

Glycol heat transfer fluids are offered as either ethylene glycol water (EGW) or propylene glycol water (PGW). Glycol is chemically similar and related to alcohol. Its boiling point is high and remains thermally stable even over a wide temperature spectrum. It’s also highly conductive and has a low freezing threshold. The latter characteristic makes glycol ideal as an antifreeze solution for engines, but also for food processing and pharmaceutical formulations.

Organic  and Synthetic heat transfer fluids. Organic fluids are derived from petroleum, while synthetic fluids are produced from advanced chemical processes offering superior performance in certain applications. Unlike their synthetic counterparts, they have high heating capacity even under low pressure. They also can absorb significant amounts of heat without changing their state. However, the most notable advantage of mineral fluids is that they’re an inexpensive making them suitable for industrial applications where cost efficiency might take precedence over performance factors.
