HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® Panel Mounted DME
BENDIX KING® Silver Crown Plus line of Panel Mounted 100 watt KN 62A and 50 watt KN 64 DME are self-contained, 200-channel systems, which can be channeled remotely through almost any NAV receiver or tuned directly with their own frequency selection knobs. They offer dual channeling capability with two DME frequencies available at all times (one remote & one stored internally). Also feature redesigned faceplates for improved readings' illumination, large sturdy knobs and a three-position function switch for easy operation. They operate on any 11 to 33 VDC voltage without adapters or power converters while due to their modest power requirements no external cooling is needed.
HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® Remote DME
BENDIX KING® TSO'd KN 63 DME is a complete 100 watt, 200-channel remote DME system utilizing Large Scale Integrated (LSI) circuit technology. Offering significant advantages in DME reliability and performance, the KN 63 is all solid-state (no transmitter tubes) and can be installed with either single or dual panel DME indicators (displays) such as the BENDIX KING® KDI-572 or KDI-574.
HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® DME Displays
BENDIX KING® TSO'd KDI-572 or KDI-574 DME Displays can be used as master display controls and information displays from KN 63 remote DME transceiver. The top-quality KDI 572 DME displays distance, groundspeed, and time-to-station all at the same time. Slant-range distance is computed digitally and displayed up to the maximum range of 399 nautical miles. Station lock-on is typically achieved within three seconds, with accurate groundspeed and time to station computations becoming available within one minute. The KDI 572's single control switch offers easy operation of the entire DME system as well as DME channeling. It has settings for ON/OFF, NAV 1, NAV 2, and DME HOLD. Comes with an indicator for area navigation (RNAV) to let you know if the displayed distance and time are to a waypoint or a radio navigation beacon. The TSO'd KDI 574 DME display is similar to KDI-572 but DOES NOT include ON/OFF, NAV 1/2, DME Hold selector. For use with Bendix/King Remote DMEs KDM-706 / KDM-706A, KN-63 DME and KTU-709 TACAN.
The Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) systems used on aircraft provide information on aircraft slant distance, ground speed, and time to a ground station. Although such information can be obtained by GPS devices, the distances calculated by a DME and GPS are NOT the same. A DME measures the line-of-sight / slant range distance to the VOR station, a reading influenced by the aircraft altitude. In contrast, a GPS unit measures the distance between the current latitude/longitude coordinates and those of the waypoint with no dependence on the altitude. A DME can only measure the distance to a VOR station while a GPS can measure distance to any selected waypoint (i.e. a co-located point at some distance from the VOR). Unless an approach has a GPS overlay, with the same weather and altitude requirements, a DME may offer additional approach options.
HONEYWELL BENDIX KING®, a leading avionics manufacturer offers panel mounted KN 62A and KN 64 DME (*) and remote DME, DME displays briefly presented below and accesories such as racks & connectors for DME installation and connection. They are offered for outright sale or in exchange / trade-ins (**) for returned customer owned units in NEW Condition or USED (Serviceable or Overhauled) Conditions (***) and accompanied by the relevant certification (e.g. yellow tag, 8130-3 form). The letters "SV","OH" and "EX" in the product reference numbers (SKU) indicate the condition/sale terms. Racks & connectors (for new installations) are sold separately.
(*) The KN-62A DME is the TSO'd version of the popular and powerful KN-62 DME. Also available with a harmonic transmission filter (-01 version) required in Europe. The King KN-64 DME represents a compromise between the KN-62 and KN-62A DMEs but with a lower transmission power (nominally rated at 50 watts) than either the KN-62/KN-62A DMEs (100 watts).
(**) In the case of an exchange/trade-in option of a customer unit, the full selling price of the ordered unit is charged and the core credit is refunded or credited towards future orders when our co-operating supplier verifies that the unit is in a reasonable, repairable condition. It is recommended that this option is selected by our customers mainly for upgrades and only in cases when their units are functioning properly at the time removal from the aircraft. In cases when customer units are found by our supplier to be non-repairable, the core deposit shall not be refunded and shipping charges shall apply if customers wish the return of these units to them.
(***) As per FAA requirements, Serviceable Condition means that the units have been repaired as needed and tested according to the manufacturer's procedure to meet the manufacturer's performance specifications. They are legally approved for installation and use (return to service). In this condition, the unit is NOT disassembled unless problems and/or repair needs are detected during testing. In Overhaul Condition, the units have been tested to determine any problems, disassembled, inspected, cleaned and repaired as necessary, reassembled, tested and aligned as required by the manufacturer manual and finally certified that they meet manufacturer’s specifications.
HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® Panel Mounted DME
HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® Silver Crown Plus line of Panel Mounted 100 watt KN 62A and 50 watt KN 64 DMEs are self-contained, 200-channel systems with Bendix/King trusted quality and reliability, redesigned faceplates for improved readings' illumination, larger and sturdier knobs providing a more precise feel . Their powerful solid state transmitters provide search and lock-on in about a second. Both can be channeled remotely through almost any NAV receiver, or tuned directly with their own frequency selection knobs. Their dual channeling capability offers two DME frequencies at all times, one remote and one internally stored. Their display shows either simultaneous DME distance, groundspeed and time-to-station, or DME distance and internally selected frequency. They operate on any VDC voltage from 11 to 33 without adapters or power converters while due to their modest power requirements no external cooling is needed. Different versions exist including the standard version (-00 ) and the version with Silver Crown Plus faceplate. Their technical specifications are listed below.
