Blind rivets (also commonly referred to as POP Rivets) are mainly used in applications where there is no access to the rear (blind side) of the joint. They are produced in accordance with different standards specifying their properties, sizes/dimensions, materials, finishes, installation methods & other information for their application. A benefit of blind rivets is that they are not material specific and therefore they can be used to combine two different material types together. 

This listing relates to those manufactured in accordance with National Aerospace Standard NAS 1919, a U.S. industry standard for the aerospace industry created and maintained by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA).

AIA NAS 1919 & 1921 series rivets are general-purpose, mechanically-locked blind rivets used in structural aerospace and industrial applications for creating permanent and strong joints. As structural rivets(*) they are high-strength fasteners intended for use on load-bearing applications, offering greater shear and pull-out strength, and vibration resistance. They feature a self-plugging, serrated stem and can be supplied with a protruding head  (NAS 1919 Series) or 100°  flush head (NAS 1921) style. Produced by different manufacturers (such as PCC CHERRY AEROSPACE, HOWMET AEROSPACE HUCK or TRIMAS AEROSPACE ALLFAST) they are offered in different materials (aluminum, corrosion resisting A286 stainless steel or Monel®) and finishes, different nominal shank diameter sizes & corresponding grip ranges in inches. 

Both NAS 1919 & 1921 series rivets are sold under OEM brands and part numbers or as  Standard part numbers under our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines, in pieces or packs where the specified number of fasteners per pack is indicated after the letters "PK" in the product reference number (SKU). Blind Rivets are multi-piece rivet assemblies, capable of being installed from one side of the workpiece.Traditionally, blind rivets were used on aircraft leading edges, trailing edges, and close out areas which are limited to access to one side of the structure.  Current blind rivet usage has expanded to many additional areas of the aircraft in an effort to decrease labor expense and to address the ergonomic issues of solid riveting.

The CherryMAX® locked spindle blind rivets by CHERRY® AEROSPACE are the most reliable, high strength structural fasteners with visual inspectability in the world today. They are also known as "bulbed" fasteners due to their large blind side bearing surface, developed during the installation process. They feature a a visibly inspectable  "Safe-lock" locking collar for more reliable joint integrity, and their own installation washers, which eliminate the problems resulting from worn tool anvils. CherryMAX® rivets are used in thin sheet applications and in materials that may be damaged by other types of blind rivets. They meet the requirements of PS-CMR-3000 and can be supplied in 1/8" through 1/4" diameters in both nominal (CR3212 and CR3213 Series) and 1/64" oversize diameters (CR3242 and CR3243 Series).

Solid shank rivets are relatively low-cost,  permanently installed fasteners used as structural parts in aircraft and other applications where reliability and safety consist a priority.  These rivets are produced in accordance with military and other international standards such as US Army-Navy (AN) standard and Mil-Spec (MS) that followed. AN426/MS20426 and AN470/MS20470 Series rivets are solid aluminum rivets with countersunk head or universal head respectively. Sourced from quality suppliers they are offered as part of our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. They are  available in different diameters and lengths and sold by the pound (lb). Those designated by the letter "A" in their part numbers are "soft" rivets fabricated from 1100-grade aluminum with a tensile strength of 16,000 PSI while rivets designated by the letters "AD" are fabricated from 2117 aluminum and heat treated to the T4 condition. They have a shear strength of 26,000 PSI and a tensile strength of 38,000 PSI. Boeing & Airbus, the two leading airframe builders, have developed specifications for fasteners, hardware and other parts manufactured by different companies. Compliance with  Boeing (aka BAC) and Airbus (aka ASNA) Standards is a  prerequisite for installation or use of these parts on their respective aircraft. The CHERRY® Nut-Plate family of fasteners offers an extensive range of head styles in a low cost, pull through style rivet. Rivet heads include the CCR/CCMR274, “Universal”, CCR/CCMR264, 100° Flush, and the CCR/CCMR244, 100° Reduced Flush head (NAS 1097). Sleeve materials include C1018 steel or A-286 CRES stainless steel. Single action installation tools are all that is required to complete this low cost fastening system. Gauges (also termed as gages) and gauge scales are widely used for inspection or measurement of correct grip length of  rivet pins, shear lockbolts, structural screws and bolts in aerospave and industrial applications. They ensure correct fastener selection, enhancing structural integrity, simplify the measurement process saving time during assembly, and improve accuracy in maintenance and repair tasks. Made from durable materials for long-lasting use (including high-strength alloys and stainless steel) they come with easy-to-read markings for quick and precise measurement.

Protrusion grip gauges & their assemblies (including apart from the grip gauge a grip gauge slide) can be supplied for use on HI-SHEAR Hi-Lilte®/Hi-Lok®/Hi-Tigue® Series of fasteners or those from PCC CHERRY AEROSPACE. 

These gauges are offered as sets of blades with different color markings for different nominal diameter sizes in Inch or Metric (mm) systems with the letter "M"in their part number denoting a Metric version. For example, those with 2-1522 part number, include five stainless steel blades (5/32", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8") on a keychain for portability, and can be used  with HI-SHEAR Hi-Lok®/ Hi-Tigue® fasteners ensuring proper pin protrusion for safe aviation fastener applications.Their counterparts, 2-1522HST are suitable for HI-SHEAR Hi-Lilte® fasteners. 

Grip Gauge Scales with or without a slide are also offered with measurement graduations in inches or inches and millimeters. The 269C3 Grip Gauge Scale from PCC CHERRY AEROSPACE, made of high-strength alloy, has been designed for precise grip measurement in various materials in aircraft structures. Can be used with CherryMax® & CherryLok® rivets. Its durable construction ensures long-lasting use, while its clear markings for quick reference, and user-friendly design for easy insertion into prepared holes for reliable readings, simplify the measurement process.

Depending on the selected part & stock conditions, grip gauges & scales for HI-SHEAR and PCC CHERRY AEROSPACE fasteners can be supplied as OEM parts or equivalent parts from other suppliers, such as OMEGA TECHNOLOGIES (separately listed) meeting or exceeding specifications. 

Economy models of gauges for shop rivet heads and rivet lengths are also available from ATS and AVERY TOOLS and can be used for measuring both universal head and flush rivets. Rivet head gauges are offered as a set of four gauges for -3, -4, -5, & -6 rivet sizes permanently stamped on each gauge. Each gauge measures MINIMUM height and MINIMUM diameter of shop heads AFTER setting eliminating guessing if the rivets are properly set, and are color coded with anodized finish. Blind rivets (also commonly referred to as POP Rivets) are mainly used in applications where there is no access to the rear (blind side) of the joint. They are two-piece fasteners consisting of the rivet body (aka shell, or hat) and the stem or mandrel, pre-assembled and ready to use. Rivets are installed by using a riveting tool to draw the mandrel which causes the body to deform and clamp down on the joint. Upon reaching the designed clamping force, the mandrel snaps and is discarded.

Non structural blind rivets are those designed for applications where the connection doesn't need to withstand significant load-bearing forces. Countersinking is used to ensure that flat head screws or fasteners sit flush against the workpiece. Countersinks used in aerospace and industrial applications are made of durable materials such as High Speed Steel (HSS) known for its hardness, toughness, and ability to withstand high temperatures. High Speed Steel (HSS) countersinks are well suited for cutting aluminum sheet metals. When combined with Cobalt, an alloying agent in steels to improve the hardenability, strength, and wear resistance in machining applications but also due to its ability to resist wear at higher temperatures, the  respective countersinks are often used for cutting stainless steel and other aluminum alloys.

Sourced from quality suppliers, integral (fixed) pilot Microstop countersink cutters are offered as part of our own labeled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. Made from HSS or HSS Steel with Cobalt, they consist ideal tools for aircraft manufacturers, aircraft maintenance/ repair stations or  industrial manufacturers for precise and accurate countersinking, cost-effective alternatives to other OEM products and and stocked by our suppliers for fast deliveries.

Because of the difference in composition between HSS and Cobalt, main strengths of HSS countersinks are their high hardness and wear resistance. Therefore, as a general rule, they consist a better choice when you want your countersinks to retain their strength even when exposed to extreme wear or abuse. For higher hardenability, strength, and wear resistance and in applications when when countersinks are to be exposed to extremely high temperatures, cobalt countersinks should best be used.
