Countersinking is used to ensure that flat head screws or fasteners sit flush against the workpiece. Countersinks used in aerospace and industrial applications are made of durable materials such as High Speed Steel (HSS) known for its hardness, toughness, and ability to withstand high temperatures. High Speed Steel (HSS) countersinks are well suited for cutting aluminum sheet metals. When combined with Cobalt, an alloying agent in steels to improve the hardenability, strength, and wear resistance in machining applications but also due to its ability to resist wear at higher temperatures, the  respective countersinks are often used for cutting stainless steel and other aluminum alloys.

Because of the difference in composition between HSS and Cobalt, main strengths of HSS countersinks are their high hardness and wear resistance. Therefore, as a general rule, they consist a better choice when you want your countersinks to retain their strength even when exposed to extreme wear or abuse. For higher hardenability, strength, and wear resistance and in applications when when countersinks are to be exposed to extremely high temperatures, cobalt countersinks should best be used.

Rivet cutters of different types are commonly used in Aerospace and many industrial applications. ATI® TOOLS 501 series aerospace heavy duty rivet cutters are designed to quickly and easily shear aluminum rivets. They are adjustable for 1/4˝ to 3/4˝ long rivets in 1/16˝ increments. Available in two models with standard handle (ATI 501R) and long handle (ATI 501S).

Blind Rivets are multi-piece rivet assemblies, capable of being installed from one side of the workpiece.Traditionally, blind rivets were used on aircraft leading edges, trailing edges, and close out areas which are limited to access to one side of the structure.  Current blind rivet usage has expanded to many additional areas of the aircraft in an effort to decrease labor expense and to address the ergonomic issues of solid riveting.

CherryLOCK® ‘A’ Code “non-shift”, self-plugging blind rivets 

Single action, mechanically locked, wire-drawing fasteners providing excellent hole-fill and sheet take-up capability. They conform to the Procurement Specification NAS 1400 and Standards Pages NAS 1398 and NAS 1399.These rivets are offered in aluminum, monel and A-286 stainless steel materials in a wide variety of diameters and grip ranges. RAPCO produces quality FAA-PMA approved replacement organic and metallic brake linings for Cleveland and McCauley brake assemblies on most general aviation aircraft. Organic linings are actually made from a semi metallic mix. RAPCO combines brass, copper and Kevlar fibers with a high temperature binding compound to provide outstanding performance and long service life. Most RAPCO organic linings have a built in wear indicator, which reduces the risk of damage to the brake disc and helps to optimize lining life. MS20604 and MS20605 Standard pull-thru rivets are unique blind rivets typically used in nut plate applications. CHERRY® AEROSPACE MBC® Blind Fastening System  is one of the industry’s simplest and most versatile riveting systems available today. Jo-Bolt is a trade name for an internally threaded three-piece rivet. A Jo-Bolt consists of three factory preassembled parts, a threaded steel alloy bolt, a threaded steel nut, and an expandable stainless steel sleeve. During installation the bolt is turned while the nut is held. This causes the sleeve to expand over the end of the nut, forming the blind head and clamping against the work. When driving is complete, a portion of the bolt breaks off. The high shear and tensile strength of the Jo-Bolt  fasteners makes them suitable for use in high-stress applications where some of the other blind fasteners would not be practical. Other advantages include their excellent resistance to vibration, weight saving, and fast installation by one person. Jo-Bolts are often encountered in the permanent structure of late model aircraft, in areas which are not often subjected to replacement or servicing. Manufactured to different aerospace standards such as NAS 1669, 1670, 1750, or 1751 they are offered as OEM parts of their respective producers or as respective Standard part numbers under our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines.
