PPG AEROSPACE® Aircraft Fusekage Sealants
The PR-1782 is the first lightweight low density, multipurpose aerospace sealant for sealing both fuel tank and fuselage. Developed for Airbus, PPG Aerospace PR-1782 universal polysulfide sealant is one-third lighter and cures two-thirds faster than previous-generation sealants. It is offered in 3 classes replacing as many as 10 products, Class A, designed for brush sealing of fasteners, Class B for fillet sealing and Class C for fay surface and other aircraft fuselage sealing applications. PR-1782 sealants offer as much as a thirty percent (Class A & B) or twenty percent weight savings (Class C), per unit volume, over traditional sealants used for these purposes. The cured sealants maintain excellent elastomeric properties after prolonged exposure to aircraft fuels both jet fuel and aviation gas, and will resist limited contact to diphosphate ester based hydraulic fluids. All classes have a service temperature range from -54°C to 121°C ( -65°F to 250°F).
Class A is recommended for use on Airbus aircraft. Extrusion-grade PR-1782B sealant has been qualified to both Airbus specifications AIMS 04 05 001 for fuselage sealant and AIMS 04 05 012 for fuel tank sealant.
The PPG PR-1772 Class B is a lightweight sealant. It has a service temperature range from -65°F (-54°C) to 250°F (121°C), with intermittent excursions up to 275°F (135°C). It offers as much as a thirty percent weight savings, per unit volume, over traditional sealants used for these purposes. The cured sealant maintains excellent elastomeric properties after limited exposure to both jet fuel and aviation gas.
PR-1772 Class B is a two-part, chemically curing polysulfide compound. The uncured material is a low sag, thixotropic paste suitable for application by extrusion gun or spatula. It cures at room temperature to form a resilient sealant having excellent adhesion to common aircraft substrates.
PPG P/S-870 Proseal Corrosion Inhibitive Sealant is suitable for fuel tank and fuselage applications and listed under the Corrosion Inhibitive Sealants.
PPG AEROSPACE® Access Door Aircraft Sealants
The PPG AEROSPACE PR-1428 Class A and B sealants are two-part, manganese dioxide cured, polysulfide compound low adhesion sealants with a a temperature range from -65°F (-54°C) to 250°F (121°C). PR-1428 Class A has intermittent excursions up to 275°F (135°C) while those of Class B are up to 250°F (135°C).
These materials are designed for use as an access door sealant or in the fabrication of form-in-place (FIP) gaskets. PR-1428 Class B can also be used to protect electrical wired, terminals and equipment against fuel moisture, dirt and short circuits.
PR-1428 Class A uncured material is suitable for application by rush in thickness up to 25 mils. It cures at room temperature to form a removable seal to common aircraft substrates. PR-1428 Class B uncured material is a low sag, thixotropic paste suitable for application by extrusion gun or spatula. It cures at room temperature to form a removable seal to common aircraft substrates.
The PR-1428 sealants ARE NOT regulated as a DANGEROUS GOODS when transported in sizes of ≤5 L or ≤5 kg,provided the packagings meet the required provisions.

PPG AEROSPACE® Aircraft Windshield & Canopy Sealants
The PPG AEROSPACE PR-1829 Class B is a rapid curing aircraft windshield and canopy sealant. It has a service temperature range from -80°F (-62°C) to 320°F (160°C), with intermittent excursions up to 420°F (216°C). This material is designed for fillet sealing of glass, polycarbonate, acrylic and other aircraft sealing applications. The product contains no organic solvents and does not craze substrates. The cured sealant exhibits excellent resistance to UV and weather exposure. PR-1829 Class B is a two-part, epoxy cured Permapol® P-3
polythioether compound. The uncured material is a low sag, thixotropic paste, suitable for application by extrusion gun or spatula. Unlike standard polysulfide windshield sealants, it can cure at low temperatures and is unaffected by changes in relative humidity. This sealant has excellent adhesion to common aircraft substrates. Offered in different packings in B-1/4, B-1/2 or B-2 Classes corresponding to 1/4, 1/2 or 2 hrs' application time. DANGEROUS GOOD UN Number: UN3077 UN Class: 9.
