EASTMAN TURBO Aircraft Turbine Engine Oils
EASTMAN CHEMICAL COMPANY is the only oil manufacturer to offer broadly used DOD-PRF-85734 and MIL-PRF-23699 High Thermal Stability (HTS) HTS Class oils, to suit all helicopter oil lubrication needs.
EASTMAN TURBO Oils is the new brand name for former BP TURBO Oils. The product names, manufacturing facility, and product formulations remain unchanged. They are trusted solutions for aircraft turbine engine lubrication with different products addressing respective needs for better engine health, reliable performance across a wide temperature range, advanced APU performance or high-load-carrying demands. Available in different packaging options such as 1 US Quart cans, 5 gallon pails or 55 gallon drums.
TURBO OIL 2197™ (formerly BP TURBO OIL 2197)
TURBO OIL 2197™ is a AS5780 HPC / MIL-PRF-23699 HTS class, 5 cSt High Thermal Stability (HTS) synthetic lubricant for the most thermally demanding aerospace and aviation turbine engine and accessory applications. It the most widely used HTS oil in the world, featuring high temperature cleanliness, excellent oxidative stability for the turbine engine's health and best-in-class coking for longer bearing life and outstanding thermal stability.
TURBO OIL 2380™
TURBO OIL 2380™ is an 5 cSt synthetic aviation turbine oil (ATO) with a balanced combination of oxidative and thermal stability and best low temperature characteristics. It is still one of the most widely used turbine oils in the commercial aviation industry and consists an ideal single oil fleet Solution. It was one of the first turbine oils to be qualified and approved for US military specification MIL-PRF-23699 STD (Standard) class and subsequently SAE AS5780 SPC (Standard Performance Capability) class. Also approved against the UK military specification DEF STAN 91-101/2 (replaced DERD 2499). Eastman Turbo Oil 2380™ provides a balanced combination of thermal and oxidation stability, load carrying capacity, lower volatility and has the best low temperature flow characteristics of all 5 cSt turbine oils. It is recommended for the lubrication of most aircraft gas turbines and accessories. It is also recommended for the lubrication of aero-derived gas turbines in industrial power generation, offshore and marine applications.
Turbo Oil 2380™ Features
Viscosity: best low temperature viscosity properties among all 5 cSt oils.
Cleanliness: minimum formation of varnish and sludge deposits over long periods of use.
Seal Material very benign to commonly used seal materials in gas turbines.
Compatibility: compatible with other synthetic gas turbine lubricants meeting MIL-PRF-23699 , e.g. Aeroshell 500 and Mobil Jet Oil II, PWC03-001
Capacity: protection to bearings, gears, and other highly loaded lubricated surfaces.
Bulk Stability: Its high degree of oxidation resistance permits a long period of operation without significant increase in viscosity and/or total acidity.
Turbo Oil 2380™ Applications & Approvals
Approved by a wide range of engine and accessory manufacturers for their applicable equipment, including: Rolls-Royce Ltd, Rolls-Royce Allison, GE, Pratt & Whitney, Pratt & Whitney Canada, Honeywell, Hamilton Sundstrand, CFMI, IAE, MTU, Solar and Turbomeca.
Turbo Oil 2380™ Shelf Life
According to the producer, shelf life can be extended beyond 4 years depending on several factors (e.g. storage conditions in original, unopened packaging away from extreme heat and moisture).
TURBO OIL 2389™
TURBO OIL 2389™ is a 3 cSt synthetic gas turbine oil, offering exceptional cold-start capability. It is an advanced APU performance oil used by many commercial airlines in their auxiliary power units (APUs) due to its best-in-class thermal stability for more reliable performance across a range of temperatures. with excellent “cold soak” reliability in aircraft APUs. It is the only MIL-PRF-7808 Grade 3 qualified oil fully approved in all Honeywell and UTC Aerospace Systems APUs. Turbo Oil 2389 is formulated from synthetic base stocks and advanced technology additives, to provide the combined thermal and oxidation stability properties of commercial Type II lubricants such as Eastman Turbo Oil 2380™ 5 cSt synthetic lubricant, with with the low temperature fluidity characteristics of a 3 cSt oils. It also has load-carrying ability equal to, or better than, other approved MIL-PRF-7808L Grade 3 oils. Approved by a wide range of engine and accessory manufacturers for their applicable equipment, including: Rolls-Royce Ltd, Rolls-Royce Allison, GE, Pratt & Whitney, Pratt & Whitney Canada, Honeywell, Hamilton Sundstrand, CFMI, MTU, Solar and Turbomeca.
TURBO OIL 25™
TURBO OIL 25™ is a 5 cSt viscosity class synthetic oil, plus extreme pressure additives, for the demanding loads of helicopter transmission applications (gearboxes). It is formulated from synthetic base stocks and advanced technology additives, to provide the combined thermal and oxidation stability properties of commercial Type II lubricants, with extreme pressure additives to maximise gear system reliability. It effectively addresses the high-load-carrying demands of today’s helicopter transmission systems reducing wear on critical parts and improving reliability and operation safety in transmissions and gearboxes. Incorporates high oxidation resistance to minimize formation of carbon, coke and sludge. Approved to US military specification DOD-L-85734(AS), and UK military specification DEF STAN 91-100/1 (DERD 2497).
TURBO OIL 274™ (formerly BP TURBO OIL 274)
TURBO OIL 274™ is a DEF STAN 91-98 synthetic oil in the 7.5 cSt viscosity class, is uniquely suited for older turboprop applications and the most widely used in commercial aircraft. It is formulated with special synthetic base stock where additives are inserted to inhibit wear, oxidation, and foaming. It features a good high temperature performance and load-carrying ability for long trouble-free operations under severe conditions. Meets UK Defence Standard DEF STAN 91-98 / 2. Approved for use by Rolls-Royce, Dowty Rotol, Hawker Siddeley, Solar, Pratt & Whitney Canada engines.
