PPG AEROSPACE® Integral Fuel Tank Sealants
PPG AEROSPACE® manufactures an extensive range of Integral Fuel Tank Sealants some of which are briefly presented below. They are available in different packings.
PPG PR-1422 (A and B Classes) / PR-1440 (A, B, and C Classes) Integral Fuel Tank Sealants
PR-1422 Class B is an aircraft integral fuel tank sealant. It has a service range from -65F (-54°C) to 250°F (121°C), with intermittent excursions up to 275°F (135°C). This material is designed for fillet sealing fuel tanks and other aircraft fuselage sealing applications. The cured sealant maintains excellent elastomeric properties after prolonged exposure to both jet fuel and aviation gas. PR-1422 Class B is a two-part, dichromate cured poly-sulfide compound. The uncured material is a low sag, thixotropic paste suitable for application by extrusion gun or spatula. It cures at room temperature to form resilient sealant having excellent adhesion to common aircraft substrates.
Due to REACH regulations of the European Union (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and restriction of Chemical substances), production and supply of this product in the European Union is ceased. Production in the United States and availability of the product to the America’s , Africa, the Middle East, and Asia/Pacific is unaffected.
The replacement products for all grades of PPG PR-1422, are PPG PR-1440 Class A or B aircraft integral fuel tank sealants with a service temperature range from -54°C (-65°F) to 121°C (250°F), with intermittent excursions up to 135°C (275°F). The cured sealants maintain excellent elastomeric properties after prolonged exposure to both jet fuel and aviation gas. The PPG PR-1440 Class A is designed for brush sealing of fasteners in fuel tanks and other aircraft fuselage sealing applications. The PPG PR-1440 Class B is designed for fillet sealing of fuel tanks and other aircraft fuselage sealing applications.
PPG PR-1750 (A and B Classes) Integral Fuel Tank Sealants
PR-1750 integral fuel tank sealant is a two-part, manganese dioxide cured polysulfide compound with a service temperature range form -65°F (-54°C) to 250°F (121°C), and intermittent excursions up to 360°F (182°C). PR1750 Class A sealant is designed for brush sealing of fasteners in fuel tanks and other aircraft fuselage sealing applications while PR1750 Class B sealant for fillet sealing of fuel tanks and other aircraft fuselage sealing applications. The cured sealant maintains excellent elastomeric properties after exposure to both jet fuel and aviation gas.
PR-1776M Class B Low Weight Integral Fuel Tank Sealant
PR-1776MB Class B is a low density, high temperature aircraft integral fuel tank sealant with a service temperature range from -65°F (-54°C) to 250°F (121°C), with very limited excursions up to 360°F (182°C). Recommended for use on Boeing and Bombardier aircraft. This material is designed for fillet sealing of fuel tanks and other aircraft fuselage sealing applications. It offers as much as a twenty percent weight savings, per unit volume, over traditional sealants used for these purposes. The cured sealant maintains excellent elastomeric properties after prolonged exposure to aircraft fuels both jet fuel and aviation gas, and will resist limited contact to diposphate ester based hydraulic fluids.
PPG PR-1782 Multipurpose Aerospace Sealant (A, B, and C Classes)
The PR-1782 is the first lightweight low density, multipurpose aerospace sealant for sealing both fuel tank and fuselage. Listed under PPG AEROSPACE® Fuselage Sealants.
