The DK120/90 was the first ULB certified to provide a minimum of 90-day underwater operating life. Certified to TSO-C121b & TSO-C142a and ESO ETSO-C121b & ETSO-C142a. Airframe mounted DK180 series low frequency beacon is designed and qualified to meet the newly developed standards FAA TSO-C200 / ETSO-C200 dated 6/26/2012 as per SAE–AS6254 & ARINC 667. DK120/90 – RECORDER BEACON

The DK120/90 will provide a minimum of 90 days of uninterrupted operation once activated, complying with TSO/ETSO-C121b. They have been tested to, meet, and/or exceed all the requirements of FAA / EASA TSO/ETSO-C121b,SAE AS8045A in with additional test for batteries as per TSO/ETSO-C142a. Building on reliability of the DK120, the DK120/90 will assist in location of CVR/FDR devices.

Capable of operation at depths of up to 20,000 feet (6096 m)

Detectable at a range of 2000 to 4000 yards (1800 to 3600 meters) based on environmental factors.

Sustained pressure up to 8700 psi.

Water switch actuation initiates beacon operation upon immersion in either fresh or salt water.

The battery used to power the DK120/90 will sustain beacon operation for a minimum of 90 days at an acoustic output of 160 dB with operating frequency 37.5 kHz.

DK180 – LOW FREQUENCY BEACON

The DK180 is designed and certified to meet the newly developed standards FAA TSO-C200a, TSO-C142a. The DK180 also meets SAE-AS6254a minimum performance standard for Low Frequency Underwater Locator Devices (acoustic, self-powered) & the ARINC-677 installation standard. In the event of an accident at sea, the DK180 emits a low frequency signal (8.8kHz) in order to provide an extended detection range in locating the submerged aircraft. The beacon transmits for a minimum of 90 days and acts as a supplement to the existing Underwater Locating Devices (ULD) which are attached directly to the flight and data recorders.

The DK140 is a Non-TSO version of the underwater acoustic locating beacons.

DK290 – RECORDER BEACON

The DK290 ULD is DUKANE SEACOM’s advanced ULD that leverages the design-features of the existing DK120/90 with improved battery safety features including a new non-restricted Class-9 lithium battery class 9 and containment of thermal runaway. It is designed to aid in the retrieval of the Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorders (CVFDR).

With the hazards of lithium batteries emerging in the aviation industry, the DK290 was developed with battery safety at the forefront of all design considerations resulting in a ULD with reduced lithium content and capable of safely containing a thermal runaway event.

The DK290 was designed with the uncompromising goal of improving battery safety onboard the aircraft and during shipment while ensuring the functionality required by TSO-C121b and TSO-C142b. The Dukane Seacom DK290 and its batteries have been tested and certified to applicable requirements specified in SAE AS8045A, RTCA/DO-160G, and RTCA /DO-227A standards. The ULD meets or exceeds the minimum performance standards required for TSO-C121b approval.

The DK290 utilizes the field-proven Lithium Manganese Dioxide battery chemistry avoiding the use of other contentious chemistries such as Lithium Thionyl Chloride and Lithium Sulfuryl Chloride, which have been deemed unfit for use by many in the aviation industry. In addition, our Lithium Manganese Dioxide battery chemistry is far superior to unproven Alkaline technology for this application in terms of performance in harsh environments and temperature extremes over a six-year battery life.
