Commercial (Civil) Aircraft Wheels, Braking Systems & Parts SKU: WHLBRK-ACFT-CVL

Aircraft wheels and braking systems serve a vital function during takeoff, landing and taxiing. Along with landing gear, aircraft wheels and brakes are critical to ensure safe and reliable aircraft ground operations under extreme forces, stress, as well as wear and tear from general operation and the environment.

Aircraft brakes are arranged in multiple disk pairs, which are commonly referred to as brake Heat Sink. As aircraft brakes convert the kinetic energy of the moving airplane to heat energy, they are also referred to as Heat Packs made of steel or carbon fibres. Conventional metal (steel) brakes are gradually replaced by carbon brakes (particularly on larger, long-haul commercial airplanes) due to their higher efficiency in braking applications, lower weight and resulting less fuel consumption and lower CO2 emission by the engines.

Commercial aircraft wheels and braking systems are produced by by leading manufacturers such as Honeywell Aerospace, Collins Aerospace/Goodrich Wheels & Brakes, Parker Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems and Safran Landing Systems (formerly Messier-Bugatti-Dowty) and offered as OEM products/parts for an extensive list of commercial aircraft platforms.  For more information on different OEM products please refer to the Product Description section, the supplied documentation or contact us.

Carbon and steel heat packs are also offered as part of our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. They are  PMA approved (*) parts by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for use on an extensive list of Western and Eastern commercial (civil ) aircraft platforms including Boeing, Airbus, McDonnell Douglas, Ilyushin and others. Sourced from quality suppliers they are available in an extensive product range, consist cost effective alternatives equalling or exceeding standards of the respective OEM products and feature high quality, safety, improved design, significant cost savings and fast deliveries. For more information on AVIATIONEU NEW ERA PMA brake heat packs please consult our separate product presentation or contact us.

UTC COLLINS AEROSPACE (GOODRICH) Wheels & Brakes

Collins Aerospace (Goodrich) is part of UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) one of the world’s largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products. Their landing gear and wheels and brake systems are used by  commercial, regional, business, and military aircraft worlwide.

Collins Aerospace provides landing systems for more than 40,000 aircraft worldwide, covering over 110 aircraft models of 800+ commercial and regional operators including the largest airlines worldwide.

Their wheel and brake portfolio includes electric and hydraulically actuated brakes with steel or carbon friction material, brake control systems, tire pressure monitoring systems and brake temperature monitoring systems.

Their advanced DURACARB® carbon disk technology provides a longer brake life, providing overall cost savings. DURACARB is a heat sink material that offers lighter weight without sacrificing durability. Because of this, the carbon brake delivers more landings per overhaul (LPO). These brakes also operate cooler, with lower brake fluid temperatures for safer operation and longer life cycle.

COLLINS AEROSPACE 2-1740-1 multiple-disc carbon main landing gear brake assembly is a lightweight, high-performance carbon-disc brake for Boeing 737NG and 737 MAX series, offering improved heat dissipation, consistent stopping power, and extended service life.

It  provides reduced weight compared to steel brakes, superior heat dissipation for faster cooling, and durable braking performance. The assembly features a dry internal system and removable torque bars to facilitate maintenance and precise installation, delivering consistent stopping power for ground operations and short landing distances.

HONEYWELL Wheels & Brakes

Honeywell’s broad range of lightweight, aluminum alloy main wheels, nose wheels and replacement parts are manufactured for extended service life and lower costs of ownership. Designed for a 10,000-cycle life, their commercial wheels incorporate many features for improved thermal management including integrated heat shields and fuse plugs. They can accommodate either radial or bias tires, based on aircraft or application requirements and they are also fully certified to meet regulatory and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.

Honeywell’s Carbenix commercial brakes use the latest generation of carbon friction materials to offer a cost-effective brake solution with enhanced durability and stopping performance. From the long-life heatsink solution for the Boeing 777 to the record-setting energies and titanium braking components for the Airbus A380, Honeywell has applied its extensive history of wheel and brake design to equip a wide range of commercial aircraft platforms including: Airbus A330-200/-300, A340-200/-300, A340-400/-500, A380, Boeing 747-400, 767-300, 777-200/-300, Boeing MD-11, COMAC C919, and Embraer ERJ 135/ERJ 145.

Honeywell's Cerametalix wheels and brakes average 5.5 million aircraft landings a year, reducing operating costs while providing improved braking performance and reliability. Considered the world's most used and trusted steel brakes, Cerametalix brakes are particularly well-suited for quick-turn applications due to their superior energy absorbing capability.  They are used across a wide range of commercial aircraft platforms including: Boeing 717, 727, 737, 747, 767-200, Boeing DC-8 and Boeing MD-80.
