MICHELIN® Aircraft Tire & Inner Tube Product Range
MICHELIN® AIR® Bias Tires
MICHELIN® AIR® bias tires are designed to provide:
- a very long tire life and lower maintenance costs due to fewer tire changes,
- exceptional balance for smooth taxiing, even wear, and heat resistance,
- maximum protection against sidewall cracking caused by ozone and UV light,
- excellent lateral stability and impact absorption, even under rough landing conditions
Their thick rubber in the tread area helps provide for a long tire life contributing to lower maintenance costs due to fewer tire changes.
Sidewall is optimized for both ozone and ultraviolet light protection which helps reduce ozone cracking in key areas of the tire. Also provides maximum amount of exterior wear and crack resistance for a long tire life.
Their unique bead construction provides a firm (tight) fit to help reduce movement between the tire and wheel. Helps improve lateral stability for a long tire life, even under rough landing conditions.
Their contoured shoulder design helps absorb lateral impacts associated with landing. Designed to help the tire achieve a full life, even under adverse conditions.
Their optimized casing design resulting from proprietary MICHELIN® production processes helps balance stresses within the tire structure. Strong, yet lightweight nylon cords are designed to exceed strict industry standards for overpressure strength. Results in an efficient, lightweight product with excellent balance properties for smooth taxiing, even wear, and resistance to heat buildup for a long tire life.
MICHELIN® AIR X® Radial Tires
Compared to bias tires, the MICHELIN® AIR X® radials offer:
- measurable fuel savings,
- more landings per tread,
- improved cut resistance
Light Weight Radial Design
MICHELIN® AIR X® radials typically weight 20–30% less than comparable bias tires, and they operate at cooler temperatures. Helps provide measurable fuel savings, more landings per tread, longer wear characteristics and a more
stable contact patch than bias tires, as well as shorter turnaround times and reduced carcass fatigue.
Their extra strong carcass helps restrict tire growth and the stretching of rubber. Results in better cut resistance than bias tires.
Their optimized durable cut-resistant tread includes deep skid depth and specially-designed circumferential grooves. Helps provide for an extended tire life, less heat build up and lower maintenance costs due to fewer tire changes.
Customized rubber compounds in sidewall are used for optimization for both ozone and ultraviolet light protection which helps reduce ozone cracking in key areas of the tire. Provides maximum amount of exterior wear and crack resistance for a long tire life.
MICHELIN® PILOT® Bias Tires
MICHELIN® PILOT® are high performance bias tires for piston and turboprop aircraft.
They provide extra long tire life with more landings due to highly-durable rubber compounds and up to 21% deeper skid depth than the leading competitor’s tires.
Their optimized tread profile helps provide for true track taxi, take offs, and landings.
Their tubeless design reduces overall wheel weight and helps eliminate tire creep on the wheel. MICHELIN® PILOT® tires can be used with a tube on tube-type rims.
They offer all weather protection as they are designed for longterm ozone and UV light protection, and excellent hydroplane resistance.
MICHELIN® AVIATOR® Tires
MICHELIN® AVIATOR® tires combine quality with competitive pricing.
They feature:
Exclusive Air Cushion Inner Liner over casing plies which guards against inner tube chafing for longer tube life and lower maintenance costs,
“Posi-Fit” bead construction ensuring firm (tight) fit which reduces movement between the tire and wheel for improved lateral stability and a reduction of potential tube chafing,
Customized MICHELIN® AIR® rubber compounds in tire exterior designed to provide longest tire life and lowest cost-per-landing. Sidewall is optimized for both ozone and ultraviolet light protection which reduces ozone cracking in key areas of the tire, and helps prevent premature aging. The MX2000 tread compound is Michelin’s toughest, providing our maximum amount of exterior wear and crack resistance,
Customized MICHELIN® AVIATOR® rubber compounds contributing to long tire life and a low cost-per-landing. The sidewall is optimized for ultraviolet light protection while the MX1000 tread compound provides excellent exterior wear and crack resistance throughout the life of the tire,
Mass optimized casing design. Advanced production techniques enhance our ability to balance stresses within the tire structure, for an efficient lightweight product with excellent balance properties,
Advanced nylon casing. Strong, yet lightweight nylon cords are designed to exceed strict industry standards for overpressure strength, and reduce heat buildup for long life and even wear,
Functional sidewall design which helps inhibit premature aging by reducing the number of potential sites for ozone initiation,
Streamlined profile. Contoured shoulder absorbs lateral impacts associated with landing, helping the tire achieve a full life, even under adverse conditions.
MICHELIN® CONDOR® Tires
