Blind rivets (also commonly referred to as POP Rivets) are mainly used in applications where there is no access to the rear (blind side) of the joint. Blind Rivets are multi-piece rivet assemblies, capable of being installed from one side of the workpiece.Traditionally, blind rivets were used on aircraft leading edges, trailing edges, and close out areas which are limited to access to one side of the structure.  Current blind rivet usage has expanded to many additional areas of the aircraft in an effort to decrease labor expense and to address the ergonomic issues of solid riveting.

Large radii at critical points enable these rivets to withstand continuous rugged use.They are slightly crowned with a highly polished face designed for rapid flush riveting where a smooth skin surface is essential and feature large radii at critical points to prevent breakage, protection with plastic coating to prevent damage during shipment and storage, blended radius between cup and chamfer with no sharp edges, which coin or mar skin, highly polished precision cup, free of machine marks and ridges and chamfered corners. Shank diameter 0.401".  Different sizes are available serve specification requirements for face diameters and lengths.

Solid shank rivets are relatively low-cost,  permanently installed fasteners used as structural parts in aircraft and other applications where reliability and safety consist a priority.  These rivets are produced in accordance with military and other international standards such as US Army-Navy (AN) standard and Mil-Spec (MS) that followed. AN426/MS20426 and AN470/MS20470 Series rivets are solid aluminum rivets with countersunk head or universal head respectively. POP® PRG510A/MCS510A series air rivet guns are strong, compact, and trouble-free pneumatic tools ideal for continuous high-production riveting. Αvailable with either a deflector (PRG) or with a Mandrel Collection System (MCS). The PRG-511 A offers an extended nose housing for improved access. Sets aluminum in sizes 3/32″ – 3/16″ in open-end and closed-end POP rivets.

Blind rivets (also commonly referred to as POP Rivets) are mainly used in applications where there is no access to the rear (blind side) of the joint. They come in different materials, sizes, military or industrial standards, can be installed with the use of a riveting tool and cover a wide range of structural and non structural applications. A benefit of blind rivets is that they are not material specific and therefore they can be used to combine two different material types together. Furthermore, there is no way to over or under-torque a rivet. If the appropriate diameter and grip range are chosen correctly, the rivet will be installed perfectly every time.

Non structural break mandrel blind rivets are offered as part of AVIATIONEU NEW ERA product lines. They are produced in accordance with the DIN 7337 Standard of the German Institute for Standardisation (Deutsches Institut für Normung, DIN) or respective replacing ISO Standards (ISO 15983 or ISO 15977 for protruding or flat/countersunk head rivets respectively). These standards specify the dimensions, materials, properties and requirements for the use of blind rivets and they are widely used many industries in Europe and worlwide, including automotive, construction and machine building industries.

Structural screws are made of alloy steel, are properly heat treated, and can be used as structural bolts. Those commonly used in aircraft applications are manufactured to aerospace/military standards/specifications. They are offered as part of our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines structured in different series based on the standard of their conformance. Some of the screws commonly used include NAS204 through NAS235 and AN509/AN525 series. 

MS24694 Series structural screws have a 100° countersunk Phillips head. They replace the respective AN509 series structural screws of materials and finishes. Minimum tensile strength for steel is 125,000 psi. They are fabricated from alloy steel and cadmium plated per specification QQ-P-416A, Type II, Class 3 or 300 Series Stainless Steel unplated designated by the letters "S" and "C" respectively in the product part number after MS24694 and before the size number.

CHERRY® AEROSPACE MAXIBOLT® Blind Bolts (also termed as rivets) are multi-piece assemblies, capable of being installed from one side of the workpiece. Typically used in higher strength aircraft structural areas they are offered as Maxibolt®,  Maxibolt® Plus and Titanium Maxibolt® Blind Bolts. They can be installed with the use of CHERRY® tools for a most reliable installation performance.

CHERRY® Maxibolt® Blind Bolts are supplied in alloy steel and A-286 CRES materials. They conform to MS90353/MS90354, and MS21140/MS21141 Standards, meet MIL-F-81177 and MIL-F-8975 requirements, and are listed in QPL81177 and QPL8975. Shear strength for the steel version is 112 KSI and  95 KSI for the A286 CRES version.  CHERRY® Maxibolt® Plus Blind Bolts are available in -5, -6, and -8 diameters and stainless steel, and titanium materials. One tool and pulling head installs all three diameters. Creating a larger blind side footprint, they provide excellent performance in thin sheet and non-metallic applications. The flush breaking stem eliminates shaving while the extended grip range accommodates different application thicknesses. CHERRY® Titanium Maxibolt® Blind Bolts feature expanded performance capabilities for metallic and composite blind fastening applications. They provide a flush, burr- free installation with no shaving required. The Titanium Maxibolt® bolts offer fast and consistent installation by utilizing single action tooling with a unique shift washer design. The all-titanium sleeve and stem are compatible with exotic composite materials. They cause no delamination of the exit side of the structure during installation, and offer a blind-side slope tolerance up to 7°.

Countersinking is used to ensure that flat head screws or fasteners sit flush against the workpiece. Countersinks used in aerospace and industrial applications are made of durable materials such as High Speed Steel (HSS) known for its hardness, toughness, and ability to withstand high temperatures. High Speed Steel (HSS) countersinks are well suited for cutting aluminum sheet metals. When combined with Cobalt, an alloying agent in steels to improve the hardenability, strength, and wear resistance in machining applications but also due to its ability to resist wear at higher temperatures, the  respective countersinks are often used for cutting stainless steel and other aluminum alloys.

Because of the difference in composition between HSS and Cobalt, main strengths of HSS countersinks are their high hardness and wear resistance. Therefore, as a general rule, they consist a better choice when you want your countersinks to retain their strength even when exposed to extreme wear or abuse. For higher hardenability, strength, and wear resistance and in applications when when countersinks are to be exposed to extremely high temperatures, cobalt countersinks should best be used.
