AEROSHELL® Piston Engine Oils (PEO)

AEROSHELL® Piston Engine Oils range includes:

AEROSHELL® Oil Sport Plus 4 specially developed in conjunction with major engine manufacturers to satisfy the demands of the small, 4-cycle piston engines used in the light aviation sector, which have previously relied on automotive lubricants.

AEROSHELL® Oils 65 (*), 80, 100, and 120. Straight mineral oils available in four viscosity grades: SAE 30, 40, 50, and 60. They’re blended from selected high-viscosity index base stocks and contain a minimum quantity of additives. These oils are best used for breaking in most new or recently overhauled four-stroke aircraft piston engines.

AEROSHELL® Oils W80, W100, and W120. AEROSHELL® W Oils were the first aviation piston engine lubricants to be formulated with non-metallic dispersant additives, which help avoid the build-up of metallic ash residues on critical engine components. These oils can be used in a wide range of four-stroke aircraft piston engines, including fuel injected and turbocharged variants.

AEROSHELL® Oils W80 Plus and W100 Plus, Shell´s best single-grade aviation piston engine oils that can help to prolong engine life and protect against rust, wear, and heat thanks to their range of additives, including the AEROSHELL® Oil W range´s advanced ashless dispersant.

AEROSHELL® Oil W 15W-50, a premium semi-synthetic multigrade ashless dispersant piston engine oil offering exceptional stability and protection against wear thanks to its advanced additive package. It’ll also take care of the engine when operating at extreme ambient temperatures.

AEROSHELL® Oil Diesel Ultra, a fully synthetic, multigrade engine oil. It uses a formulation designed to handle all operating conditions in the latest highly rated turbocharged diesel engines. Suitable for piston engines fueled by Jet A or Jet A-1. NOT TO BE USED in spark ignition or AVGAS-powered aircraft engines.

AEROSHELL® Turbine Engine Oils (TEO) 

AEROSHELL® Turbine Engine Oil range includes:

AEROSHELL® Oils 2 and 3, 2 mm²/s and 3mm²/s mineral turbine oils that inhibit fuel systems and their components during storage. 

AEROSHELL® 308 TEO, 3mm²/s synthetic oil offering dependability for older engines that require a MIL-PRF-7808 oil. It uses additives to offer better resistance against oxidation and corrosion, and to minimise wear.

AEROSHELL® 390 TEO, a 3mm²/s oil offering excellent cold-soak starting and reliability for auxiliary power units (APU). Due to its low temperature characteristic, AEROSHELL®  Turbine Oil 390 has a reduced viscous drag compared to 5mm2/s oils during APU startup.

AEROSHELL® 500 TEO offering safety and reliability for older engines needing an oil approved to MIL-PRF-23699. It can also be used in most civil and military engines that use this class of lubricant.

AEROSHELL® 555 TEO with high load-carrying capacity for helicopter engines and transmissions. It’s an advanced 5mm²/s synthetic oil with a finely balanced blend of additives to offer better thermal and oxidation stability, as well as improving the base oil’s load-carrying capability.

AEROSHELL® 560 TEO, offering superior performance compared to standard oils. It lowers the cost of maintaining  the engine by keeping it cleaner while providing also excellent elastomer compatibility.

AEROSHELL®750 TEO, a 7.5mm²/s synthetic oil with excellent load carrying, thermal, and oxidation stability. Developed to offer a high standard of lubrication in British civil gas turbines. It’s especially useful in turbo-prop engines, which benefit from its load carrying.

AEROSHELL® Ascender, a next generation turbine engine oil offering low coking propensity, high thermal and oxidative stability, and demonstrably better elastomer compatibility.

AEROSHELL® Greases

AEROSHELL® Grease range contains a variety of aviation greases that are multi-functional and include:

AEROSHELL® Grease 5 (*) a wheel bearing and engine accessory grease. Combines high load-carrying ability with excellent resistance to water and high temperatures. Inhibited against corrosion and oxidation, with a useful temperature range of -18°C to +149°C. Used primarily in aircraft wheel bearings and engine accessories operating at high speeds and relatively high temperatures.

(*) Available in the Americas only. In all other regions AeroShell Grease 22 replaces AEROSHELL® Grease 5.

AEROSHELL® Grease 6, a general purpose airframe grease. Inhibited against corrosion and oxidation, it features outstanding low-temperature torque properties and resistance to water. Useful temperature range of -40°C to +121°C. Used primarily in plain and anti-friction bearings on general aviation aircraft.

AEROSHELL® Grease 7, an advanced multipurpose airframe grease. Corrosion inhibited and fortified to resist oxidation, this combines excellent load-carrying capacity with a useful temperature range of -73°C to +121°C. Recommended for highly loaded gears and actuator screw mechanisms, as well as for instrument and general airframe lubrication.

AEROSHELL® Grease 14, a leading multipurpose helicopter grease. Inhibited against corrosion and oxidation, it is compounded with special anti-rust additives, and gives outstanding protection against fretting and moisture corrosion. Useful temperature range is -54°C to +75°C. Approved by all leading helicopter manufacturers. Recommended for most helicopter main and tail rotor bearings; widely used as a general-purpose helicopter grease.

AEROSHELL® Grease 22 a versatile multipurpose grease. Corrosion inhibited and fortified against oxidation, it has excellent anti-wear properties, load-carrying capacity and water resistance, plus a wide useful temperature range of -54°C to +177°C. Recommended for aircraft wheel bearings, engine accessories and airframe lubrication and for anti-friction bearings operating at high speeds and at high or low temperatures.

AEROSHELL® Grease 33, a universal airframe grease. Developed with the purpose of satisfying almost all airframe lubrication requirements with a single grease. Its enhanced corrosion resistance and load-carrying capacity reduces wear and tear and can lead to extension of re-greasing intervals and reduction in maintenance costs. Replacing several greases with a single grease avoids the risk of misapplication and, also, reduces stock inventory, again providing cost savings. Useful temperature range is -73°C to +121°C.

AEROSHELL® Grease 58 (ASG58), an advanced wheel bearing grease. It follows the industry drive for lithium complex thickened grease. ASG58 is built on proven AeroShell Grease 33 technology, exceeding the demanding specification of SAE AMS 3058. It has superior mechanical stability, water washout resistance and corrosion protection. ASG58 performs well in the EMCOR test against salt water and modern day runway de-icing fluid.

AEROSHELL® Grease 64 (formerly AEROSHELL® 33MS), an extreme pressure (EP) airframe grease based on the proven lithium thickener technology of AEROSHELL® Grease 33. It can help to extend component life through its exceptional load-carrying and EP properties from fortification using 5% molybdenum disulphide and its excellent wear and corrosion protection. It also helps to reduce the risk of product misapplication by being fully compatible with AEROSHELL® Grease 33. Together, these greases are perfect partners, thereby helping to reduce costs by protecting over 98% of the grease application points on a typical airliner. AEROSHELL® Grease 64 is fully approved to MIL-G-21164D.

AEROSHELL® Mineral and Synthetic Hydrocarbon Hydraulic Fluids 

AEROSHELL® range of Mineral and Synthetic Hydrocarbon Hydraulic fluids includes:

AEROSHELL® Fluid 41, a mineral hydraulic fluid manufactured to a very high level of cleanliness with improved fluid properties. Approved to MIL-PRF-5606. It contains additives that provide excellent low-temperature fluidity as well as exceptional anti-wear, oxidation – corrosion inhibition and shear stability. In addition, metal de-activators and foam inhibitors are included in this high-viscosity index fluid to enhance performance in hydraulic applications. AEROSHELL® Fluid 41 is dyed red.

AEROSHELL® Landing Gear Fluid (LGF), an extreme pressure operational hydraulic fluid. A mineral hydraulic fluid (MIL-PRF-5606) with additional additives have been added to improve the extreme pressure characteristics and the fluid’s natural lubricity. The lubricity agent provides a stable thin film layer to the metal surfaces at mild operating conditions. When severe conditions exist (landing/touchdown), the extreme pressure additive supplies the load carrying needed at the metal-to-metal surfaces to prevent the occurrence of such phenomena as ‘ladder cracking’ and ‘slip stiction’ of the piston component of the landing gear. Approved to BMS 3-32 Type 2.

AEROSHELL® Fluid 4 (*) a mineral hydraulic oil with very good low temperature characteristics and capable of operating over a wide temperature range. AEROSHELL® Fluid 4 is composed of a mineral oil base stock and a complex additive package, which results in a product with excellent low-temperature flow and anti-wear properties, exceptional anti-foam characteristics and excellent oxidation stability. It is dyed red.

AEROSHELL® Fluid 31, a  synthetic hydrocarbon-based aircraft hydraulic fluid with greatly improved fire resistance characteristics. IT has a specially designed base stock that imparts a relatively high flash point, excellent low-temperature properties and good oxidation and thermal stability. In addition, AeroShell Fluid 31 is formulated with high-technology additives to provide oxidation and corrosion resistance, anti-wear and anti-foaming protection. AEROSHELL® Fluid 31 is super clean filtered to ensure optimum performance in particulate monitored systems. Approved to MIL-PRF-83282. AeroShell Fluid 31 is dyed red.

AEROSHELL® Fluid 61, a preservative synthetic hydrocarbon base hydraulic fluid specifically inhibited to provide excellent oxidation stability for the oil and good corrosion preventive protection to the hydraulic system. Approved to MIL-PRF-46170 Type 1.

AEROSHELL® range of preservation oils and other fluids includes:

AEROSHELL® Fluid 2XN, an engine preservative mineral concentrate for protecting infrequently used engines from corrosion.

AEROSHELL® Fluid 3, a general purpose, low-temperature mineral lubricating oil.

AEROSHELL® Fluid 12, a Low-temperature, synthetic ester instrument lubricating oil.

AEROSHELL® Fluid 5M-A, a medium-viscosity, extreme-pressure mineral oil used in propellers and helicopter gearboxes.

AEROSHELL® Fluid S.8350, an extreme-pressure (EP) mineral oil for use in helicopter rotor gears and gearboxes.

AEROSHELL® Calibrating Fluid 2, a calibrating fluid for use specifically in fuel system calibration by engine and component manufacturers.

AEROSHELL® Compound 07, a de-icing fluid for in-flight systems and on runway.

AEROSHELL® Fluid 602, a synthetic avionic cooling fluid.

AEROSHELL® Turbine Oil 2,  a 2mm2/s mineral oil for fuel system inhibition. It replaces AEROSHELL® Fluid 14.
