AVIATIONEU NEW ERA Aluminum Alloy Products (Industrial Applications) SKU: AVEUNE-PRD-AL-IND

Aluminum alloy products consist a significant product cateory within our AVIATIONEU NEW ERA offered portfolio of metal products.

Sourced from quality producers worldwide, they are widely used in different applications in Aerospace & Defense as well as many other industries. Extending our Aerospace quality aluminum product portfolio, (separately listed) manufactured from premium materials, through rigorous processes & extensive testing under strict quality management systems, our new Commercial quality product lines  for industrial applications emphasize on cost-effectiveness. Without sacrificing quality, they conform to industrial standards (many of which are the same with those of their Aerospace quality counterparts) and can be supplied in different aluminum alloys and tempers to select for specific project requirements. Produced through extrusion, cold rolling (aka cold drawing or cold finishing) or hot rolling  manufacturing processes (*), they are competitively priced and offered in different finishes (mill finish, polished, etc.) in a wide range of dimensions in inches or millimeters (Metric system) with pre cut or cut to order lengths in feet or meters. Custom dimensions also possible with an additional mold charge. Standard sizes are maintained in stock with our suppliers for quick deliveries. Available shape options include round, rectangular, hexagonal, square bars/rods, angles, and different profiles for architectural and other applications. They are typicaly  used in automotive industry (vehicle body building), transport equipment, equipment components, frame building and general constructions, reinforcement and support of various surfaces (in the case of angles) and many others.

For further information please refer to the Product Description section and the respective documentation.

(*) Extrusion is a common forming process for producing a variety of metal parts and other materials. Extruded aluminium is made by heating the aluminium and pushing it through a die to form the finished product, and subsequently cooled, stretched, and hardened at room temperature or in heated spaces for rapid tempering. A common product example for this process is aluminium tubing. In cold drawing or cold rolling forming process (sometimes referred as cold finishing) the aluminum material is pulled into a draw die or rollers, shaping the metal at room temperature. In hot rolling, the material is heated before shaping. Cold drawing improves the metal’s mechanical properties and gives a captivating finish to the finished product.

In general, the extrusion process is considered of lower cost to cold processing which involves a greater set of instruments and materials to finish.

Key Features (depending on the selected product)

Different aluminum alloys and tempers to meet specific application requirements each time.

Aluminum alloys come in different grades / series (2xxx,6xxx etc.) with differentiations in their major alloying elements and resulting properties. For example,

- the 2024 Grade Aluminum Alloy, also known as aircraft aluminum, with copper as the primary alloying element, is used in applications requiring high strength to weight ratio, as well as good fatigue resistance, weldablility and average machinability. The high percentage of copper in 2024 aluminum greatly reduces its resistance to corrosion and therefore it is more prone to corrosion than most other aluminum alloys.

- the 6061 Grade Aluminum Alloy (AL6061), with magnesium and silicon as major alloying elements, is heat-treatable and features a light weight, high tensile strength, good corrosion resistance, weldability, and machinability. However, 2024 aluminum’s yield strength surpasses that of 6061 aluminum and it is generally selected if strength is a priority. Furthermore, 2024 has a higher modulus of elasticity that 6061 aluminum bearing more stress without permanently changing shape and therefore a better choice for forming applications. The 6061 alloy is heat-treatable and presents an excellent machinability, being one of the most popular machining alloys and therefore often  preferred if machining procedures are necessary for a project.

Different Aluminum Grade options include: 2011,2014,2017,2024,5052,5083,5086,5454,5754,6061,6063,6082,7003,7022,7050,7055,7075.

In terms of tempers, the products are offered as Annealed (O Temper) or in different Heat treated (T tempers) such as T3/T351, T4/T451, T5, T6/T651 etc.

Wide Range of Dimensions

Due to our co-operations with multiple producers worldwide, the products are offered in different dimensions in inches or millimeters and cut to order lengths in feet or meters. Even orders for custom dimensions can be served with an additional mold charge.

Standards/Specifications

The products comply with widely accepted standards / specifications including the ASTM, AMS or equivalents. Manufacturer Test Reports (MTRs) can also be supplied at additional charge.

AMS stands for Aerospace Material Specifications established by the SAE International (formerly, the Society of Automotive Engineers or SAE). AMS specifications are compiled in a comprehensive database of individual directives that standardize procedures, equipment and processes related to aerospace material processing. These are continuously updated and revised to stay up-to-date with advances in material science and processes technologies.

American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM International) is a standards organization developing and publishing “voluntary consensus technical standards for a wide range of materials, products, systems, and services.

Although extrusions produced per AMS specifications are generally selected for aerospace applications (unfortunately at a higher cost), those made per ASTM standards can work equally well in certain cases and can be considered as possible alternatives.
