Used on most major civil and military programs, RADIALL™ DSX Series ARINC 404/SAE-AS81659 Connectors offer a proven solution to electrically connect equipment rack to avionics equipment. The DSX series are multipin, rack and panel style connectors designed to electrically connect equipment racks to avionics equipment. Typically the plug is installed on the avionics rack and the receptacle on the equipment box. Applications include commercial and military aircraft and helicopters, railway, radar systems, power circuits, in-flight electronic instrumentation and flight simulators.

Different DSX Series versions are outlined below:

DSX SAE AS81659, available in four shell sizes (1, 2, 3 & 4) with environmental and non-environmental versions as well as EMI/RFI options to improve shielding effectiveness. DSX SAE AS81659 connectors cover both civil and military applications.

DSX ARINC 404 shell type A and B are the original connectors, mainly dedicated today to commercial applications.

DSX-F and DSX-K receptacles, RADIALL™ solution for front release front removable (FR/FR) contacts to facilitate installation and maintenance. Fully intermateable with ARINC 404 type B and SAE AS81659 plugs, they offer the same characteristics as SAE AS81659 connectors.

Shell types are plugs and receptacles made from an aluminum alloy with cadmium yellow chromate or nickel plating options. Mismating is prevented by a polarizing system which provides 216 polarizing positions. For military part numbers, applicable polarizing position range goes from 00 through 99 only. Inserts are offered in various contact arrangements accommodating rear release, rear removable signal (size 22) power (sizes 5, 12, 16 & 20HD), coaxial (sizes 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 & 15), concentric twinax (sizes 5 & 9) triax (sizes 5 & 9) contacts in crimp, wire wrap or PC tail termination. Radiall’s 29504 fiber optic termini are also available. With numerous configurations and a wide variety of contacts and accessories, the  RADIALL™ DSX Series offers for both OEMs and aircraft manufacturers robust and high performance solutions fully compliant to SAE AS81659 specifications listed on the qualified product list (QPL)as well as ARINC 404 commercial connectors.

MIL-DTL-26482 Standard Series II connectors are widely used on applications in aerospace environments requiring a general-purpose, miniature cylindrical bayonet connector.They are environmentally sealed and offered different receptacle-mounting styles.

Harbour Industries is a QPL approved manufacturer of high temperature, high performance PTFE dielectric coaxial cables supplied in accordance with the MIL-DTL-17 specification. They are high temperature, high performance constructions exhibiting high dielectric strength and low capacitance in proportion to the cable’s dielectric constant with tolerances tighter than the MIL-DTL-17 specification to ensure uniformity of electrical characteristics, especially impedance, attenuation, and VSWR. They are priced and sold by the foot and are offered as cut to order in 10 ft increments.

United States Military Standard RG58 Coaxial Cables are flexible and lightweight coaxial cable with a solid 20 American Wire Gauge (AWG) conductor, a 50-ohm characteristic impedance and maximum voltage rating of 1,900 volts. They feature a low-density polyethylene dielectric insulation with a dielectric constant of 2.3 and a diameter of 0.116 inches (2.9mm), a tinned copper braided shield and a PVC jacket. The outside diameter of the cable is 0.195' (4.95 mm), which makes it suitable for indoor and vehicular use where size matters. It is best for signal frequencies up to 1GHz, where its attenuation is 14.5 decibels per 100 feet. Above that frequency, attenuation increases, and at 5GHz it is approximately 60 dB/100 ft. RG58 coaxial cable supports 10Base2 Ethernet.

These cables come in different versions (types) corresponding to different conductors including RG58 (pure annealed copper conductor), RG58/U (single solid core copper conductor), RG58A/U (multi-core tinned copper conductor with generally low loss foamed insulation)  or RG58C/U (multi-strand tin-plated copper conductor and polyethylene solid core). RG58 A/U Coaxial Cables with PVC jacket are ones most used in WiFi, Wireless LAN, GSM, and Monitoring and Control of Network Infrastructure Sites. Also they are standard cables for avionics installations in experimental (non-certified) aircraft.

The mil-spec coaxial specification version of RG58 is the M17/28-RG58 Coaxial Cables. These cables are like their standard RG58 counterparts except that they feature a stranded tinned copper conductor and the outer conductor is a 36 AWG tinned copper braid.

RG58 Coaxial Cables are offered as part of our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. Sourced from quality manufacturers they priced and sold by the foot or meters (depending on the manufacturer). They can be furnished in standard or cut to order lengths.

Connectors compatible with RG58 coaxial cables are also offered and include BNC bayonet connectors, Low-Profile screwed TNC connectors and screwed FME connectors.

(*) The letter "U" means indicates that the conductor of the cable is copper while letters "A", "B", "C" are used when the conductor is aluminum thin.

"AR" Series connectors from AMPHENOL are multi-purpose connectors used in aerospace, military and computer periphery applications. Designed per ARINC 404 specifications AR connectors utilize pin and socket contacts manufactured in conformance with MIL-C-39029. They meet or exceed the requirements of MIL-C-81659 and ARINC Specification 404.

These connectors are available in five shell styles with up to four insert cavities. Inserts in AR product line accommodate signal and power contacts in sizes 12, 16, 20 and 22. Coaxial contacts are available in sizes 5 and 9. Insert arrangements are available utilizing a single type contact or a combination of standard and coaxial contacts.

Non-environmental and environmentally sealed connectors are offered. The environmental sealing is accomplished by wire sealing grommets and interfacial seals. Application specific designs, including transient protection, are available from Amphenol.

RG 400 (aka M17/128*) cables are high temperature coaxial cables used in a wide variety of military and commercial applications.

Sourced from quality suppliers, these cables are offered as part of our own label (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines and are intended for use in tactical operations and aerospace applications. They are are double shielded and made from dielectric PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) material and fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) Type IX sheath with a solid copper stranded wire silver-plated conductor. They feature an impedance of 50 +/-2 ohms and an operating temperature range -55 °C ... +200 °C. They are priced and sold in feet. They come with Certificate of Conformance (CoC) and test reports. (*) M17/128 is a military part number used as equivalent to the RG400 cable. The the specifications and testing of military coaxial cables, including RG400, are very rigorous requiring their manufacturers to test attenuation and structural return loss by sweeping 22 different 50-ohm cables over the frequency band for which their use is recommended.

HUBER+SUHNER RG400/U RF Flexible Coaxial Cables have an outer diameter of 4.95 mm, and a dielectric diameter of 2.95 mm. They are are double shielded and made from dielectric PTFE material and FEP sheath with a copper stranded wire silver-plated 1 mm diameter conductor. They feature an impedance of 50 ohms and a frequency range up to 6 GHz. Weight: 0.064 kg per meter. They are priced and sold in meters, in rolls of 100 meters each unless otherwise mentioned. Connectors are used on electrical wiring harnesses and are essentially enclosures (i.e., shells) which house contacts with wires. The electrical connection into the system at the contact termination is either a soldered or crimped connection (the latter removable from the connector with the use of a special tool). The shell and insert may be moisture resistant or a hermetic seal. The inserts in each connector must be oriented for correct mating, and the shell or insert usually contains a keying feature to prevent miss-mating that could damage the connector or result in an electrical problem. 

Connectors can be of a Plug (“male”) or Receptacle (“female”) type. Receptables are also termed as sockets or jacks. Plugs have prolonged connecting pins which fit into the mating sockets. Receptables have mounting features such as a flange with holes. Connectors used in aircraft are mostly those complying with Military Standards (MIL-STD) and Military Specifications (MIL-SPEC).

AMPHENOL Bayonet Neill Concelman (BNC) product series connectors are miniature quick connect RF connectors. They feature two bayonet lugs on the female connector. BNCs are ideally suited for termination on miniature and subminiature coaxial cable (RG-58, 59, to RG-179, RG-316, etc.). Other BNC series include:

HD-BNC product series featuring the trusted, push and turn interface of a traditional BNC and providing tactile feedback and a positive lock for quick and guaranteed mating and 

Mini-BNC product series allowing higher connector densities while preserving the positive characteristics of the full-size 75 Ω BNC. The Mini-BNC provides the same positive locking bayonet system found on the BNC but allows 40% more interconnects in the same area.

Amphenol MS MIL-C-5015 Circular Plug Connectors are designed to meet the demanding performance requirements of military standards. These cable mount circular plug connectors have proven electrical capability for equipment applications where durability is important. The Amphenol plugs have threaded couplings and single key/keyway shell polarization for an accurate and reliable connection. The solid shells of these MS Series circular MIL-C-5015 connectors are made from high grade aluminium alloy. The shells are electrically zinc plated with an olive drab chromate finish which ensures a high resistance to corrosion. The inserts of these military circular connectors are made from resilient synthetic rubber which offers a high dielectric strength and resistance to vibration.
