Garrett GTX GEN II Turbochargers
Garrett® GTX Series turbochargers are designed specifically for the hard-core enthusiast who wants optimal performance. These turbos are used by today’s top motorsports teams and are ready to boost you to the podium or wherever your destination may be.
Their key features include forged fully-machined billet aluminum compressor wheels with next generation aerodynamics that provide a larger horsepower range and maximize boost response.Ported shroud compressor housings increase surge resistance and provide reliable, continuous power throughout the power band. A dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge prolongs the lifespan and improves shaft balance. The water cooled Center Housing Rotating Assembly (CHRA)keeps housing temperatures to a minimum. The turbine wheel is constructed from Inconel, a Super Alloy that maintains strength during prolonged exposure to high exhaust gas temperatures.
The newest (second) generation of the GTX turbocharger by Garrett are similar to the first GTX series. Roughly the turbochargers come with ball bearing, flow improved compressor wheels and a preparation for the accommodation of an optional speed sensor. However, enhancing innovation, many of the Gen II turbochargers are available as a reverse revolving turbocharger. Turbine kits are offered in open volute and twin scroll, and a variety of A/R and flange configurations.
GTX Series turbochargers include different models: GTX2860R, GTX2867R, GTX3071R, GTX3076R, GTX3576R, GTX3582R, GTX4709R, GTX4720R, GTX5009R, GTX5020R, GTX5533R
Features OF GARRETT GTX 2nd Generation Turbochargers
Compressor wheel
All GTX compressor wheels are forged and billet out of special, high-strength aluminum alloys. Due to this manufacturing process the turbocharger receives a very high efficiency. The very even wheel geometry also reduces potential pulsation noises. You can also recognize this on the X in the turbocharger identification.
Compressor housing
The new aero optimized high-flow compressor housings are with integrated preparations for an optional speed sensors are tuned for the new GTX compressor wheels. The improved recirculation systems - compared to Gen I - broaden the operation range of the compressor substantially due to the relocation of the surge line.
Center Housing Rotating Assembly (CHRA)
All Garrett GTX are equipped with water cooling and the Gen 2 always comes with a dual ball bearing.
Turbine Wheel
The turbine wheels are made of inconel which withstands highest exhaust temperatures.
Turbine Housing
The turbine housing are available by your choice without wastegate, with wastegate, as single scroll and as twin scroll.
Fine Balancing
Every turbocharger manufacturer balances the cartridge (CHRA) of its turbochargers according to appropriate guidelines in a reasonable and cost-efficient manner. This balancing is usually sufficient but includes wide tolerances but a more accurate balancing for the turbocharger to specific requirements is possible upon request at the time of ordering.
Turbocharger Speed Sensors
The Garrett Turbocharger Speed Sensors work with any turbocharger to accurately determine compressor wheel speed. The instructions include detailed drawings of the exact machining specifications for all Garrett® GT catalog turbochargers as well as general guidelines for other compressor housing types. The Garrett Turbocharger Speed Sensor Kit includes all necessary wiring for easy installation and simple data logging.
Select GTX turbochargers come standard with a fully machined speed sensor port. Just remove the bolt and screw in the appropriate kit for your application. GT/GTX speed sensor kit is not applicable to G Series turbochargers.

TiAL Sport Stainless Steel Turbine Housings
TiAL Sports offers stainless steel housings for Garrett GT/GTX series turbines. These housings are typically of lighter weight than the corresponding iron housings of the same A/R and feature a better heat retention than cast iron. Their overall physical size is smaller than standard housing, allowing it to fit in tight engine bays. Made of cast stainless steel they provide a beautiful, smooth interior and exterior while V-band inlets and outlets eliminate the need for gaskets and bolts, with no leaks and no broken bolts. They are offered in different A/R options.
NOTE: Flanges/Clamps for TiAL Sport Stainless Steel Turbine Housings ARE NOT INCLUDED. They can be ordered separately.
