HOWMET® AEROSPACE (ARCONIC) Aerospace Anchor Nuts (Nutplates) SKU: HFS-NTPLT

Anchor nuts (aka nutplates or anchor plates) are terms used interchangeably and relate to stamped sheet metal fasteners with an internally threaded tube and a plate with two clearance holes for rivets. They are used in blind mounted panel applications in aerospace and other industrial sectors where hex nuts cannot be used or an attached nut is required for ease of maintenance. 

Anchor nuts can be Fixed or Floating, the latter being easier to use due to their built-in nut (threaded hole) able to "float" slightly thus providing a convenient connection point for threaded rods, such as bolts, from the backside. In the case of Fixed anchor nuts, the built-in nut is static (i.e. without the capability to “float”) and the threaded rod must be positioned perfectly over the hole. Self-locking anchor nuts are those with a built-in locking mechanism preventing them from loosening over time from vibrations. They are extensively used in aerospace, automotive, and construction industries.

K1000/MK1000 Series Fixed Self-Locking Two-Lug Nutplates

HOWMET® AEROSPACE K1000 series (full size) and MK1000 series (Miniature) fixed self-locking two-lug nut plates are made from cadmium plated carbon steel and are offered in different thread sizes, with plain rivet or countersunk rivet holes, with or without a dry film lube. Nut plates with a dry film lube are specified by the letter "L" while those with countersunk rivet holes are specified by the letter "K" in the end of the part number. They comform with MS21047, NAS680, NAS1023A specifications. MS21047 nut plates are superseded by NASM21047 series.

F5000/F5001 Series Self-Locking Floating Two-Lug Nutplates

F5000 Series floating  two-lug anchor nuts (nutplates) by HOWMET® AEROSPACE are made of C1050 carbon Steel per AMS5085 (UNS G10500) or 8740 alloy steel per AMS6322 (UNS G87400). Their basket is made from  C1050 carbon steel per AMS5085 (UNS G10500).

Thread profile is UNJ inch in accordance with SAE Aerospace Standard AS8879.They are offered in the following finishes:

F5000 - Cadmium plate per AMS-QQ-P-416, Type II, Class 2 plus Kaylube molybdenum disulfide dry film lubricant per AS5272, Type I.

F5000X - Cadmium plate per AMS-QQ-P-416, Type II, Class 2.

F5000-CW - Cadmium plate per AMS-QQ-P-416, Type II, Class 2 and carbowax.

They are superseded by NASM21059 series.

Certification Details: MS21059J, MILITARY SPECIFICATION SHEET: Nut, Self-Locking, Plate, Two Lug, Floating, Low Height Steel, 125 KSI FTU, 450 Deg. F (01 Feb 1994) [Superseded by NASM21059].

HOWMET® AEROSPACE  F5001 Series floating  two-lug anchor nuts are made of A286 corrosion resistant steel per AMS 5255, or AMS 5732. Thread profile is UNJ inch in accordance with SAE Aerospace Standard AS8879. Nut is finished with Kaylube molybdenum disulfide dry lubricant coat per AS5272, Type I. Basket is either passivated per AMS2700 or Kaylube finished. Other features include:

Performance: NASM25027

Floatability: .030 min. radially from centered position.

Temperature: 450°F

Variations:

"P" for bottom projection weld nibs. Example: F5001-4P.

"BC" for bottom countersunk rivet holes. Example: F5001-4BC.

MF5000/MS21075 Self-Locking Floating Two-Lug Miniature Nutplates

HOWMET® AEROSPACE MF5000/MS21075 Series Μiniature floating two-lug nut plates are made from carbon steel and cadmium plated. Similar to F5000/MS21059 Series but with a reduced rivet spacing. They are superseded by NASM21075 series.

Certification Details: MS21075H, MILITARY SPECIFICATION SHEET: Nut, Self-Locking, Plate, Two Lug, Floating, Low Height, Reduced Rivet Spacing, Steel, 125 KSI FTU, 450 Deg. F (28 Feb 1995) [Superseded by NASM21075].

FM5000 Series Metric Floating Two-Lug Nutplates

FM5000 Series of HOWMET® AEROSPACE anchor nuts are floating  two-lug anchor nuts offered in Metric sizes. The are are made of C1050 carbon Steel per AMS5085 (UNS G10500) specification. Thread profile is UNJ inch in accordance with ISO 5855/1.They are cadmium plated per AMS-QQ-P-416, Type II, Class 2 plus Kaylube molybdenum disulfide dry film lubricant per MIL-L-46010. They can be used to temperatures up to 235°C.

SIMLOC® SF5005 Metric Floating Two-Lug Nutplates

HOWMET® AEROSPACE SIMLOC® SF5005 Series anchor nuts are Metric floating  two-lug anchor nuts made of Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRES) and silver plated in accordance with EN 2786. Thread profile is ISO M in accordance with NF L 05-220. They can be used to temperatures up to 800°F - 425°C. Their strength is 160KSI - 1100Mpa. 

Note: Metric threads are designated by the letter M followed by the nominal major diameter of the thread and the pitch in millimeters. For example M10 x 1.0 indicates that the major diameter of the thread is 10mm and the pitch is 1.0mm. 

F6000 Standard / MF6000 Miniature Floating Self-Locking Right Angle Anchor Nuts

HOWMET® AEROSPACE F6000 Floating Self-Locking Right Angle Anchor Nuts and their MF6000 Miniature counterparts are made of carbon steel and cadmium plated. The basket and retainer of F6000 nutplates is manufactured from 300 series corrosion resistant steel. Both conform to NASM 25027 Standard. Offered in various Imperial (in.) UNJC-3B thread sizes. They can be used to temperatures up to 235°C. Their strength is 900Mpa.
