The following is a brief list of different grades of offered stainless steel strips, their characteristics and typical applications:
Grade 201 stainless steel strip is a lower-cost alternative to the conventional Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steels. Grade 201 stainless steel strip has good formability and corrosion resistance and this makes it suitable for applications such as stainless steel banding straps, clamps, brackets and cable ties.
Grade 202 is low nickel and high manganese stainless steel material widely used in building decoration, hotel facilities, shopping malls, glass handrails parts and others.
Grade 301 features include high strength, durability, anti corrosion & low maintenance. Used in aircraft components, electric components, switch components, connectors, precision stamping parts, conveyor belts, industrial springs and other applications.
Grade 304 is a chromium-nickel stainless steel with good corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low temperature strength and mechanical properties. Suitable for food processing lines, storage and transportation, plate heat exchangers, bellows, household products, auto parts, medical appliances, building materials, chemicals industry, food industry, agriculture, ship parts, etc.
Grade 304L stainless steel has lower carbon contents than Grade 304. Widely used in automotive structures, chemical industry, food processing industry, marine environment industry, springs, welded parts and heat exchangers industry while it can be also used in heavy industrial applications, especially in high-corrosion environments.
Grade 309S stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel providing excellent corrosion resistance and heat resistance for many important applications. Used for boilers, energy (nuclear power, thermal power, fuel cells), industrial furnaces, incinerators, heating furnaces, chemical industry, petrochemicals industry, etc.
Grade 310S is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel with good oxidation resistance, corrosion, acid and alkali and high temperature resistance. Widely used in petroleum, chemical, medical, food, light industry, mechanical instruments, etc.
Grade 316L stainless steel is almost identical to 316 grade except that it has lower carbon content imparts and even better corrosion resistance than 316. It is also resistant to the erosion of the ocean and corrosive industrial atmosphere.
Grade 316Ti stainless steel contains a small amount of titanium content and can withstand higher temperatures for a longer period without sensitisation. Widely used in chemical industry which has higher acid conditions.
Grade 317L low carbon stainless steel has stronger resistance to chemical corrosion than 304 and also higher ductility, stress corrosion resistance, compressive strength and high temperature resistance. Used in ship industrial applications, especially in chemical environments.
Grade 321 is a Ni-Cr-Mo austenitic stainless steel material with good corrosion resistance in the atmosphere. Widely used in petrochemical, electric power, bridge and automobile industries.
Grade 347 features good mechanical properties and an excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion following exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation up to 800 degrees. Suitable for applications in the Chemical, Food Equipment, Petroleum, Pharmaceutical, Waste Heat Recovery & Heat Exchange industries.
Grade 904L is a low-carbon, high-nickel, molybdenum super austenitic stainless steel with good corrosion resistance in non-oxidizing acids, good pitting corrosion resistance in neutral chloride-containing applications. Used in petrochemical equipment, reactors, heat exchangers, power plant flue gas desulfurization devices, organic acid treatment systems, sea water heat exchangers, paper industry equipment, pharmaceutical industry and other chemical equipment, pressure vessels and food equipment.
Grade 2507 is a ferritic-austenitic stainless steel combining the best properties of ferritic stainless steels with those of austenitic stainless steels. It contains high contents of chromium and molybdenum, resulting in extremely good resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and uniform corrosion. Suitable for applications in the oil and gas industries, offshore oil platforms, petrochemical and desalination equipment, mechanical and structural components and combustion gas purification equipment.
