CHERRY® AEROSPACE...

Blind Rivets are multi-piece rivet assemblies, capable of being installed from one side of the workpiece.Traditionally, blind rivets were used on aircraft leading edges, trailing edges, and close out areas which are limited to access to one side of the structure.  Current blind rivet usage has expanded to many additional areas of the aircraft in an effort to decrease labor expense and to address the ergonomic issues of solid riveting.

The CherryMAX® locked spindle blind rivets by CHERRY® AEROSPACE are the most reliable, high strength structural fasteners with visual inspectability in the world today. They are also known as "bulbed" fasteners due to their large blind side bearing surface, developed during the installation process. They feature a a visibly inspectable  "Safe-lock" locking collar for more reliable joint integrity, and their own installation washers, which eliminate the problems resulting from worn tool anvils. CherryMAX® rivets are used in thin sheet applications and in materials that may be damaged by other types of blind rivets. They meet the requirements of PS-CMR-3000 and can be supplied in 1/8" through 1/4" diameters in both nominal (CR3212 and CR3213 Series) and 1/64" oversize diameters (CR3242 and CR3243 Series).

CHERRY® AEROSPACE MBC®...

CHERRY® AEROSPACE MBC® Blind Fastening System  is one of the industry’s simplest and most versatile riveting systems available today. These fasteners are offered as standard MBC® rivets, simple, two-piece assemblies comprised of a MBC® rivet sleeve and a stem with an integral locking feature and as MBC® Lock Creator rivets (MBC®-L/C), same as the standard MBC® rivets with the addition of a lock creator anvil. This additional component simplifies installation of the fastener by allowing a single nose tip for installing the three available diameters, as in the CherryMAX® type rivets. Whether standard MBC® or MBC®-L/C rivets are used, each rivet comes complete as a single-piece assembly, ready for installation. CHERRY® AEROSPACE MBC® Blind Rivets are offered in aluminum and stainless steel versions and in different finishes. Both the aluminum and stainless steel series MBC® rivets are available in 1/8" (3.2mm), 5/32" (4.0mm) and 3/16" (4.8mm) diameters, with flush, reduced flush or protruding rivet head styles. Respective information is designated in their part numbers by respective codes as follows:

Blind Rivets are multi-piece rivet assemblies, capable of being installed from one side of the workpiece.Traditionally, blind rivets were used on aircraft leading edges, trailing edges, and close out areas which are limited to access to one side of the structure.  Current blind rivet usage has expanded to many additional areas of the aircraft in an effort to decrease labor expense and to address the ergonomic issues of solid riveting.

The CherryLOCK® blind rivets by CHERRY® AEROSPACE come in below  mentioned types, and in different sizes, materials and strength levels. A complete range of recommended power tools, hand tools and pulling heads are also available.

CherryLOCK® ‘A’ Code “non-shift”, self-plugging blind rivets

Single action, mechanically locked, wire-drawing fasteners providing excellent hole-fill and sheet take-up capability. They conform to the Procurement Specification NAS 1400 and Standards Pages NAS 1398 and NAS 1399.These rivets are offered in aluminum, monel and A-286 stainless steel materials in a wide variety of diameters and grip ranges. CherryLOCK® ‘A’ Code  "Wiredraw"  rivets are locked spindle flush fracturing structural rivets manufactured in 3/32", 1/8", 5/32", 3/16" and 1/4" diameters in 100° flush head and protruding head style configurations and offer grip ranges from .020 in the smaller diameters to 1.073 in the larger diameters. The 3/32" diameter rivet is available in A-286 only with grips ranging from .020 to .562. Rivets 1/8" diameter and larger have head markings to identify grip, material and manufacturer for ready inspection. The flush fracturing spindle eliminates the need for shaving and meets the flushness requirement of the NAS 1400 specification. These rivets are especially suited for sealing applications and joints requiring excellent sheet take-up and allow simple installation with a wide variety of Cherry® nonshifting and shifting tools.

Both CherryLOCK® ‘A’ & Wiredraw Rivets rivets are designed to provide strong, reliable fastening solutions, but the choice between them may depend on specific application requirements, such as material compatibility, strength needs, and installation conditions. Both offer a wide grip range, making them versatile for different thicknesses.

Bulbed CherryLOCK® locked spindle and flush fracturing structural rivets

They consist a complete shear fastening system.  Their features can be utilized for optimum strength and performance in both thick and thin sheets. They provide the highest possible design integrity, particularly in double dimple or thin backside sheet applications. CherryLOCK® hydroshift installation tool systems are required for installation. They conform to Procurement Specification NAS1740 and Standards Pages NAS1738 and NAS1739.

CHERRY® AEROSPACE MAXIBOLT®...

CHERRY® AEROSPACE MAXIBOLT® Blind Bolts (also termed as rivets) are multi-piece assemblies, capable of being installed from one side of the workpiece. Typically used in higher strength aircraft structural areas they are offered as Maxibolt®,  Maxibolt® Plus and Titanium Maxibolt® Blind Bolts. They can be installed with the use of CHERRY® tools for a most reliable installation performance.

CHERRY® Maxibolt® Blind Bolts are supplied in alloy steel and A-286 CRES materials. They conform to MS90353/MS90354, and MS21140/MS21141 Standards, meet MIL-F-81177 and MIL-F-8975 requirements, and are listed in QPL81177 and QPL8975. Shear strength for the steel version is 112 KSI and  95 KSI for the A286 CRES version.  CHERRY® Maxibolt® Plus Blind Bolts are available in -5, -6, and -8 diameters and stainless steel, and titanium materials. One tool and pulling head installs all three diameters. Creating a larger blind side footprint, they provide excellent performance in thin sheet and non-metallic applications. The flush breaking stem eliminates shaving while the extended grip range accommodates different application thicknesses. CHERRY® Titanium Maxibolt® Blind Bolts feature expanded performance capabilities for metallic and composite blind fastening applications. They provide a flush, burr- free installation with no shaving required. The Titanium Maxibolt® bolts offer fast and consistent installation by utilizing single action tooling with a unique shift washer design. The all-titanium sleeve and stem are compatible with exotic composite materials. They cause no delamination of the exit side of the structure during installation, and offer a blind-side slope tolerance up to 7°.
