AVIATIONEU NEW ERA M27500 Aircraft Shielded Electrical Cables SKU: AVEUNE-CBL-ELCTRSHLD-M27500

Sourced from quality producers, the MIL-DTL-27500 shielded electical cables are offered as part of our own label (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines consisting cost-effective alternatives to the respective OEM products. Depending on the producer and specification, MS27500 cables come with stranded copper single or mltiple conductors (cores), nickel, silver or tin-plated and individually insulated, different number of strands, different chemically inert fluoropolymer insulation materials with good ozone and oxidation resistance as well as single or double shields. Their jackets are made of fluoropolymer, PTFE, glass, or polyamide tape.

The MIL-DTL-27500 shielded cables are used in a range of applications including avionics, military and civilian aerospace and airframe applications and ground support equipment and they are rated to a maximum voltage of 600 volts and maximum usable temperatures from 150 °C to 260 °C.

The AVIATIONEU NEW ERA MIL-DTL-27500 cables are offered in different configurations with single or multiple individually insulated conductors (cores) in various AWG sizes, insulation materials and shields to meet application requirements. Those commonly used include components listed below but other configurations can be available. For additional information on M27500 cables, please see our brief presenation in the Product Description section.

- Stranded tin-plated cooper single or multiple-conductor(s) (aka cores) comforming with MIL-W-22759/18 specification,

- Tefzel™(**) ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene resin) insulation on each conductor

- tin- plated copper braided shield

- Tefzel™(**) ETFE jacket

The AVIATIONEU NEW ERA MIL-DTL-27500 cables are available in cut-to-order or pre-determined lengths in feet indicated in the product reference number (SKU) and packaged in rolls or spools. They are accompanied by our Certificate of Conformance (CoC). Due to their large variety of these cables, listed products shall continuously increase. If wanted cables cannot by found, please contact us.

(*) American Wire Gauge (AWG): Wire gauge is a measurement of wire diameter. This determines the amount of electric current a wire can safely carry, as well as its electrical resistance and weight.

Although the terms "wire" are used often interchangeably, wires are made of a single conductor (insulated or not) while cables include one or multiple individually insulated conductors (aka cores) with an additional external insulation jacket and sometimes one or more shield(s) below the jacket. Wires and cables used in military and aerospace applications are produced in accordance with strict specifications. SAE AS22759, replacing M22759 unshielded wires (see separate product presentation) and M27500 shielded and unshielded wires consist respective examples. Both are offered as part of our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines in various wire sizes (American Wire Gauge, AWG), cut-to-order or pre-determined lengths in feet, packed in rolls or spools.

M27500 Cables

Depending on the producer and specification, MS27500 cables come with single or mltiple conductors (cores), different number of strands as well as different insulation materials and shields. Their common applications include avionics, aerospace and airframe applications to a maximum voltage of 600 volts and maximum usable temperatures from 150 °C to 260 °C, depending on the configuration.

M27500 Cable Construction

Most common configurations include one to five conductors although cables produced under M27500 specification can include up to 15 conductors.

Conductor materials include stranded copper wires nickel, silver or tin plated .

Although 16 strands are often used, some cables have 19 strands for maximum strength and rigidity.

Different insulation materials are used in individual wire conductors and the external covers (jackets) of the cables. Most wires are insulated with the use of an extruded chemically inert fluoropolymer material, such as Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE), Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and Fluoroethylene propylene (FEP) that offers good high-temperature performance and resists abrasion, chemicals, acids, alkalis, ozone and oxidation.

Single or double shields from tinned, nickel or silver-coated copper wire braids are employed for electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression with shield ratios varying from 85% to 90%.

Single or double external cable covers (jackets) are made of fluoropolymers, PTFE, glass, or polyamide tape.

M27500 Cable Part Number Designation System

The part number designation system of a M27500 cable indicates the exact construction of each cable (wire type including the conductors, insulation, shield and jacket). Letters and numerical digits are used to designate the specification and other cable information. Please refer to the supplied charts presenting further information on the different part number components.

Military Specification: M27500 is used to designate Mil-DTL-27500 cables

Shield Coverage and Color Identification: A single letter or a dash after the M27500 number indicates both the type of shielding (shielding coverage) and the method of color identification of primary core insulation (wire color code).

Conductor Size: Identifies the wire (conductor) size in American Wire Gauge (AWG). Wire gauge is a measurement of wire diameter. This determines the amount of electric current a wire can safely carry, as well as its electrical resistance and weight.

Basic Wire Specification- The component wires are identified by a two letter code in accordance with the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) specifications

Number of Conductors: The number of conductors in the cable. M27500 currently specifies 1 to 15 conductors for shielded and jacketed cables and 2 to 15 conductors for unshielded unjacketed or unshielded jacketed cables.

Shield Style and Material: The specific shield style and material are designated by a single letter code. This letter identifies both the type of the shield and whether it’s a single or double shield.

Jacket Type: The last two digits in the cable part number indicate the cable jacketing materials.

M27500 Cable Certifications/Approvals

M27500

NEMA WC 27500

QLP M27500 Approval (*)

Qualified Products List (QPL) is a list administered by the U.S. Department of Defense and relates to products that have been pre-tested and proven to follow required specifications before procurement. Such tests are conducted on sample products submitted by the manufacturer/supplier, the successful completion of which leads to his QPL Approval for the specific product. QPL materials/products are those mostly used in demanding applications where performance quality is critical and generally used by the  U.S.  military, local governments, state departments, and federal agencies. Although, a great part of AVIATIONEU NEW ERA wires and cables are sourced from QPL Approved suppliers, Non-QPL products are also included in our offered product range.
