AEROSHELL®Turbine Oil 750 is a 7½ mm2 /s synthetic mixed ester oil containing a thickener and additives which provide excellent load carrying, thermal and oxidation stability. It meets the requirements of DERD 2487 (now DEF STAN 91-98) and was developed to provide a high standard of lubrication specifically for British and Russian turbo-prop engines, especially those calling for mineral turbine oils and particularly turbo-prop engines where a good load carrying oil was required for the propeller reduction gearbox. NYCO TURBONYCOIL® 321 Aviation Turbine Oil (Analog MK-8, MK-8P, MS-8P, MS-8RK) is a mineral oil based on a petroleum base stock and contains additives to improve the high temperature oxidation stability and prevent wear of gas turbine engines. It has a viscosity of 8 cSt at 50°C. It has been designed for the lubrication of the majority of gas turbines of Russian design. It can also be used as an anti-corrosion oil in closed circuit (MS8RK). Used since the early 1990's on civil airliners such as Tu-134, Tu-154 and Il-76. NYCO TURBONYCOIL® 98 (analog to B-3V & TU 38 101295-85) is a synthetic ester-based oil for aircraft gas turbine engines and helicopter reducers. Formerly known as Castrol® 98, this oil is produced under a license agreement between NYCO S.A. and Castrol Limited (today part of Air BP). 

Made of a polyalkyleneglycol thickened diester it contains specific additives to improve its anti-oxidant properties. It is a lubricating oil with a viscosity of 7.5 cSt at 100°C. It is intended for the lubrication of some aircraft and marine turbine engines as well as accessory equipment, particularly on turboprop engines where a high viscosity oil is required to protect the gears from heavy wear. TURBONYCOIL®  98 is widely used on Russian-made helicopters as lubricant of the engine and the main rotor gearbox and complies with with the major requirements of Russian specifications TU 38 101295-85 and  B-3V. Compared to Castrol® 98, TURBONYCOIL® 98 contains the Captax additive preventing precipitation during application.

EXXONMOBIL® Mobil Turbo 319A-2 is a fully synthetic lubricant developed to meet the performance requirements of Russian gas turbine aircraft engines which operate on mineral-oil-based lubricants. Formulated from a synthetic hydrocarbon combination of polyalphaolefin (PAO) and hindered ester based stock, Mobil Turbo 319A-2 is fortified with a unique chemical additive system. The resulting product has far superior thermal and oxidation stability than mineral-oil-based lubricants. The ability of Mobil Turbo 319A-2 to resist deterioration and deposit formation allows the potential for extended oil drain intervals and less frequent maintenance.

The closely controlled viscosity of Mobil Turbo 319A-2 at -51º C, along with a -60ºC pour point, ensure good low-temperature fluidity, permitting engine starting and lubrication at low temperatures. Mobil Turbo 319A-2 exhibits excellent bulk oil stability at temperatures up to 200º C (392º F). The evaporation rate of Mobil Turbo 319A-2 at high temperatures is significantly lower than mineral-oil-based products, and helps minimize oil consumption. The lubricant has excellent resistance to foaming.

Fully compatible with other approved oils: No engine problems such as coke shedding and oil filters blocking is experienced when changing from one approved oil to AeroShell Turbine Engine Oil 560, in accordance with the engine manufacturer recommendations.

No adverse effect on elastomer seals: AEROSHELL® 560 has good elastomer compatibility which reduces the possibility of oil leaks that could lead to expensive engine overhauls or even an in-flight engine shutdown.

Good oxidative and thermal stability:The use of AEROSHELL® 560 reduces the occurrence of oxidative and thermal degradation of the oil at high operating temperatures, which could result in high overhaul and maintenance costs due to:

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA product range of multigrade motor oils (indicated by the letter  "W") aim to ensure proper operation of the engine, wear and damage protection of different types of petrol, gas and diesel engines installed in passenger cars, vans and trucks. They contain a low-viscosity motor oil as well as various polymer additives. The additives have little effect at low temperatures, but cause the oil to thin down in hot conditions more slowly than usual.They come in different viscocity (SAE) grades to cover respective oil viscosity needs in different temperature ranges. In addition to SAE, AVIATIONEU NEW ERA motor oils  comply with American Petroleum Institute (API) service rating classification system of passenger car and commercial automotive motor oils. EXXONMOBIL® AVIATION Mobil Jet Oil 254 is a third-generation oil formulated to deliver exceptional high-temperature thermal stability  (HTS), excellent resistance to coking and deposit control as well as exceptional oxidation and corrosion protection. It meets the demanding requirements of latest technology  aircraft-type gas turbines operating over a wide range of severe operating conditions.  When compared to a typical Type II lubricant, Mobil Jet Oil 254 reduces bulk oil oxidation by up to 50 percent and shows deposit control capability 50 F higher.  These properties have been confirmed in various laboratory tests including; the Corrosion-Oxidation Stability Test,  Alcor Deposition Test, Vapor Phase Coker, Erdco High-Temperature Bearing Test, Ryder Gear and the Mobil Thin Film Oxidation Test.The closely controlled low-temperature viscosity of Mobil Jet Oil 254, along with its low pour point (below -54 ºC), ensure good low-temperature fluidity to permit starting and lubrication at temperatures as low as -40 ºC.  In extensive laboratory testing and in-flight experience, Mobil Jet Oil 254 also exhibits excellent bulk oil stability at temperatures up to 232 ºC (450 ºF) for extended periods.  The evaporation rate at these temperatures is low enough to prevent excessive loss of volume.  The load-carrying ability of Mobil Jet Oil 254 comes from its synthetic base stock viscosity and, therefore, is not subject to loss from viscosity index additive shear.

Turbine engine oils (TEO) used in commercial aircraft and general aviation engines are conforming with the US military specification MIL-PRF-23699 (formerly MIL-L-23699), an essential step in the process of gaining engine equipment manufacturer approval in different engine, engine accessories and auxiliary power unit types. Although primarily a military specification, MIL-PRF-23699 has served the commercial aviation sector since the 1960s and still used today. This specification covers four oil  categories:

STD – Standard

HTS – High Thermal Stability

C/I – Corrosion Inhibited (for military use only). Oils in this category include AeroShell Turbine Oil 531, Eastman Aero-D, NYCO TURBONYCOIL 601 and Castrol AeroJet 5.

EE – Enhanced Ester

In the case of TEOs, hotter running engines with extended times between overhauls are not adequately covered by MIL-PRF-23699 for the type of oil needed in modern commercial engines requiring additionaly tighter controls

In 2005, SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) has issued SAE AS5780 to replace MIL-PRF-23699 defining two grades of oil:

SPC – Standard Performance Capability, almost identical to STD except for additional reporting items.

HPC – High Performance Capability. SAE HPC grade has more stringent performance requirements compared with the MIL-PRF-23699 HTS grade.

Most commonly used aircraft turbine engine oil brands fall under both MIL-PRF-23699 and SAE AS5780 specifications in the respective categories. 

Examples: 

- STD/SPC: Castrol 500 (*),AeroShell 500, AeroShell 560,Mobil Jet II, etc.

- HTS/HPC: Mobil Jet Oil 254, Eastman 2197, etc. 

Furthermore, certain oils comply with different specifications to those of MIL-PRF-23699 or  SAE AS5780.

Note: HTS/HPC oils offer improved temperature capabilities (engine cleanliness) but at the cost of lower elastomer compatibility & higher prices. Most engines run well on STD/SPC oils.

AEROSHELL® Turbine Oil 308 is a 3 mm2/s synthetic ester oil incorporating additives to improve resistance to oxidation and corrosion and to minimise wear. It was developed specifically for use in particular models of aircraft turbo-prop and turbo-jet engines for which a MIL-PRF- 7808 (formerly MIL-L-7808) oil is required. AEROSHELL® 308 turbine oil contains a synthetic ester oil and should not be used in contact with incompatible seal materials and it also affects some paints and plastics.

Turbine engine oils (abbreviated as TEOs), also known as jet oils, turbo oils are specialty lubricants designed to support the operation of turbine engines. Apart from their lubricating function of the engine,  gearbox, shafts and associated accessories, TEOs have two additional functions. Their various additives protect the components from corrosion, and filter contaminants in the engine such as carbon deposits (coking) while TEOs are also used as heat transfer fluids, cooling the engine in temperatures reaching 1000°C, in turn extending the life of the oil up to 25,000 hours of operation. TEOs have been initially developed as mineral and and subsequently innovated to synthetic.

NYCO TURBONYCOIL® 3516 is a mineral turbine oil blended from mineral naphthenic base stocks and anti-oxidant additives, with a viscosity of 3 cSt at 100°C. It retains a low viscosity at very low temperature, down to -60°C. It can be used for preservation of turbines  and accessories (APUs, starters, IDGs, THS, propellers…) of commercial and military aircrafts and helicopters of first generation, as a corrosion preventive or as a preservation oil for aircraft engine fuel control systems. Available in different packaging options. AEROSHELL® 100 Series SAE 50 Mineral Aviation Piston Engine Oils are  straight mineral oils blended from selected high viscosity index base oil. They are offered as AEROSHELL® 100 mineral break in oil with no additives, AEROSHELL® W100 mineral ashless dispersant oil for normal use and  AEROSHELL® W100 PLUS mineral ashless dispersant oil with a friction modifier/anti-wear additive package. They are approved for all aviation civil aircraft piston engines. The specially blended high viscosity index base oil in AeroShell oil 100 series oils has been designed to provide effective protection to engine components compared to conventional mineral oils.

AEROSHELL® 100 SAE 50 is to be used when an oil without a dispersant additive is required during the break-in of  new aviation piston engines or those recently overhauled. AEROSHELL® W100 oil includes very small amounts of pour point depressant to improve fluidity at very low temperatures and an anti-oxidant. This helps ensure complete confidence and peace of mind knowing that your aircraft will perform reliably in between scheduled overhauls.

AEROSHELL® 100 Series oils are produced to meet fully the SAE specification J-1966 (Grades SAE 50 respectively).  Furthermore, they have military qualification approval and are listed on the Qualified Products List (QPL) issued by the US Navy and on the Technically Acceptable Products List (TAPL) issued by the UK Ministry of Defence. Common packing options include 1 US Quart bottles, cases of 6  or 12 1 US Quart bottles, pails of 5 US Gallons  and drums of 55 US Gallons.
