Aviation greases are lubricants, with a thickening agent dispersed within them. They’re used on various aircraft components inhibiting corrosion and preventing wear.
The NYCO GREASE® range of greases includes multi-purpose or special-purpose mineral and synthetic greases for extreme applications (low and high temperatures, high speed and pressure, saline, corrosive, humid environments, etc.), compliant with civil, military aviation and industrial constraints. They are intended for use in a variety of applications such as airframe, slats, flaps, heavy loads, THS (Tail Horizontal Stabilizer), actuators, bearings, doors, landing gears, wheels, jacks, rudders, LRU (Line Replaceable Units) and also as an anti-seize or assembly compound, protection grease, etc. NYCO GREASE® NLGI 2 grade (*) greases commonly used in Aerospace and Defense applications with respective specifications & approvals, are outlined below.

NYCO GREASE® GN 10 and GN 22 NLGI 2 Grade greases are general purpose airframe greases, the first based on a synthetic diester oil thickened with a lithium soap while the second clay-thickened with a synthetic hydrocarbon oil base with a viscosity of 7 cSt at 100°C.Inhibited against corrosion and oxidation they are fortified with anti-corrosion, antioxidant and strong anti-wear additives. GN 10 is suitable for use in high to very high speed bearings, or in components exposed to extremely low temperature, down to -73° C. It can be also used for for parts actuated by low-power motors. NYCO GREASE® GN 22 is a substitute for CIATIM 201-203-221, VNII NP-207, NK-50, ERA, SAPFIR and contains anti-corrosion and oxidation and anti-wear / extreme pressure additives. This multi-purpose aircraft hydrocarbon grease can be used in airframes (doors, slats, flaps etc.), wheel bearings and helicopter main and tail rotors over an extended temperature range -65°C to +177°C. Meets MIL-PRF 81322 G specifications.
NYCO GREASE® GN 15 general purpose aircraft lithium grease based on a mineral oil with a viscosity of 5 cSt at 100°C. It inhibited against corrosion and oxidation. Operating temperature range of - 40°C to + 120°C. Particularly used as an alternative to Nyco Grease GN 05 at temperature below - 18°C, in components that are sensitive to the exc essive hardening of Nyco Grease GN 05 at low temperature. Specifications G-382 – XG-271 – DCSEA 382/A (ex-AIR 4215/B).
NYCO GREASE® GN 17 soft NLGI 2 grease, based on a synthetic diester oil thickened with a lithium soap. It is fortified with anti-corrosion, antioxidant and anti-wear additives. It also contains 5% of molybdenum disulphide as solid lubricant. Nyco Grease GN 17 can be used from -73°C to +121°C as an airframe multipurpose grease (actuators, doors, flaps, slaps, landing gear, THS, etc.), for shock-loading bearings & rollers and parts in sliding motion. MIL-G-21164 D approved.
NYCO GREASE® GN 43 (Analog OKB 122-7 OK) is an aircraft synthetic grease for instruments and ejection seats.
NYCO GREASE® GN 44 (Analog TU 38 001116-84, N° 9) is based on a synthetic base stock and is thickened by a complex aluminium soap. Intended for lubrication of mechanisms between -60°C and +80°C.
NYCO GREASE® GN 45 (Analog PFMS-4S) is a blend of silicone and graphite. This grease is the ideal solution for lubrication of roller bearings, transmissions in propellers, threading, etc. Suitable for temperatures up to 300°C
NYCO GREASE® GN 6 (Analog NK-50) is a mineral grease for aircraft wheel bearings. Suitable for temperature range up to +120°C.
NYCO GREASE® GN 148 is a NLGI 2 Grade grease, based on a blend of synthetic diester oils and synthetic hydrocarbon basestock and thickened with a complex lithium soap. It is a multi-purpose airframe and landing gear grease containing excellent anti-corrosion additives. Meets MIL-PRF-23827 Type I and SAE AMS-3052.
NYCO GREASE® GN 155 is a NLGI 2 heavy duty naval, sea-water resistant grease based on mineral oil thickened by a high performance calcium sulphonate complex. It features an excellent resistance to water wash out and excellent load carrying capacity. Its typical operating temperature range is from -25°C to + 180°C. Designed as a multi-purpose grease for naval vessels for use in lubrication of bearings, ropes, pins and joints exposed to sea-water wash-out, dust, temperature and heavy loads – including components fully immersed in sea-water.
NYCO GREASE® GN 25013 is a NLGI 2 Grade multipurpose extreme temperature airframe grease, based on a high performance silicone oil thickened with polytetrafluoroethylene and reinforced with anti-corrosion and antioxidant additives. Approved by airframer manufacturers and OEMs (Airbus, Goodrich, Safran, etc.) and recommended by Airbus. Compatible with most elastomers commonly used, including EPDM. Can also be used in industrial applications up to 230°C, ball and roller bearings with low torque, bearings operated at very low or very high temperature or wheel bolts screwing for protection against corrosion. (*) NLGI Grades range from 000 to 6 and Indicate the consistency of grease for an application. Choosing the right consistency of grease for an application is critical. The higher the consistency, the more resistant the grease is to releasing lubricating fluid under force. A grease with a low consistency will release lubricating fluid more readily. The right grease consistency is important for ensuring that the appropriate amount of lubricating fluid is provided and maintained in the system for proper lubrication.
