FIBRE GLAST 6K, 2 x 2 Twill Weave Carbon Fiber Fabric features a tight weave and a cosmetically perfect 2x2 twill pattern. As a mid-weight carbon, it is twice the thickness as 3K and a bit stiffer , meaning it is best used on flatter surfaces requiring less drapability. It retains the signature appearance that is highly desirable for modern composite parts in the auto, marine, and sporting goods industries. This fabric is frequently used for structural applications, offering improved economics to fabricators when compared to multiple layers of lighter fabrics.
Ideal for making high-strength, light weight parts that don't need to withstand high temperatures. To maximize strength properties, use with an epoxy, like FIBRE GLAST System 2000 Epoxy Resin (P/N: 2000).
For added conformability, lay up the fabric at a 45-degree bias inside molds. Twill fabrics are prone to unraveling when cut. It is recommended to use FIBRE GLAST P/N: 1735-A Perfect Line Tape, or Dritz Fray Check, P/N: 1713-A.
6K, 2x2 Twill Weave Carbon Fiber Fabric is sold by the linear yard, either as a prepackaged quantity or by continuous yardage.
Prepacks are available in pre-cut lengths of the fabric: one yard (P/N: 1073-A, roll), three yards (P/N: 1073-B, roll), and five yards (P/N: 1073-C, roll). Each is packaged and sold separately but can be also purchased in any combination. Alternatively, this fabric is sold by "cut to length" yardage on condition that 25+ yards of the fabric (MOQ) are ordered in any one order. In this case customers can be benefited from a price-per-yard discount as compared to prepacks.
