AERO INSTRUMENTS® Company, now part of AEROCONTROLEX® Group, Inc., has been a supplier of Air Data Sensors for aircraft applications for over 85 years. AEROCONTROLEX® current manufacturing  of Air Data Sensors has been transitioned to AEROSONIC® Corporation which manufactures aviation instrumentation and avionics equipment including air data systems, standby displays, digital and mechanical standby instruments, sensors and probes.

Air data include total pressure of the airflow measured by pitot tubes, static pressure of the ambient air by static ports (or both pressures by pitot-static tubes), total temperature (higher than the actual air temperature due to friction and adiabatic compression) by TAT sensors, and angle of attack (i.e. angle between the airfoil and the airflow) by AoA sensors. All these data are vital for aircraft flight and in the case of large civil or military aircraft, once collected are fed to  an air data computer (ADC).

AEROSONIC® / AEROCONTROLEX® extensive portfolio of pitot probes, including pitot, pitot static and pitot/angle-of-attack probes, are designed and today in use  on a wide range of aircraft ranging from military and large commercial transports to helicopters and UAVs. Their product range  includes electrically heated pitot probes, pitot-static probes, static pressure ports, angle of attack, temperature sensors and flight test equipment for the aerospace and defense industries. They are designed to meet or exceed all applicable standards, including SAE AS393, DOD MIL-T-5421B, TSOC-16, AN5813 and BS2G.135 and feature heating elements to prevent ice accretion and water ingression for reliable operation in the most adverse environmental conditions. Probes may be configured as stand alone with pneumatic outputs to the Air Data Computer, or they may integrate the computing function and eliminate the pneumatic connection.

AEROSONIC® fuselage mounted static pressure ports are engineered to meet or exceed industry specifications to supply ambient static pressure measurements to air data computers, altimeters, airspeed indicators and vertical speed indicators in numerous types of aerospace applications. The Static Pressure Ports’ electrical heating elements prevent ice accretion and water ingestion ensuring the performance of primary flight instruments is not degraded even under the most severe atmospheric conditions.
