HOWMET AEROSPACE (ARCONIC)...
A plate nut, also known as a nut plate, anchor nut or anchor plate, is a stamped sheet metal nut that is usually riveted to a workpiece. They have a long tube that is internally threaded and a plate with two clearance holes for rivets. These terms are used interchangeably throughout product presentations to describe respective products.
Floating nut plates are low profile and lightweight plates used to install a captive nut behind a panel. The floating nut allows for an assembly that is not perfectly aligned. These lightweight, low-profile nut plates are designed for blind mounted applications where it is impractical to use hex nuts or where it is desirable to have an attached nut for ease of maintenance.
