HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® KA...
HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® KA 51B is a slave meter used in the KCS 55A compass system. Displays slaving error between the KMT 112 flux valve and KI 525A pictorial navigation indicator by means of small meter movement.
The HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® KCS 55A Compass System provides the pilot with a simple, comprehensive visual display of the aircraft's heading and position in relation to a desired course. The system simplifies course orientation, intercept and tracking. Although only the KI 525A Pictorial Navigation Indicator (PNI) and the KA 51B Slaving Control & Compensator Unit appear in the aircraft panel, other remote components of the KCS 55A system include the KMT 112 Magnetic Slaving Transmitter, the KG 102A Directional Gyro for stabilization of the system and optionally the KA 52 or KA 57 Autopilot Adapters making the KCS 55A a complete slaved compass system. Installation parts and manuals of the above components are sold separately. For further information on these components please refer to their individual product presentations. For additional information on KCS 55A and technical specifications please consult the Product Description section.
The HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® components of KCS 55A Compass System can be furnished in NEW condition or as USED in Serviceable or Overhauled conditions indicated respectively by the letters "SV" and "OH" in the product reference numbers (SKU and accompanied by the relevant certification (e.g. yellow tag, 8130-3 form). They are also offered as exchanges / trade-ins for returned customer owned units indicated by the letter "EX" in the SKU. In the case of an exchange/trade-in option of a customer unit, the full selling price of the ordered unit is charged and the core credit is refunded or credited towards future orders when our co-operating supplier verifies that the unit is in a reasonable, repairable condition. It is recommended that this option is selected by our customers mainly for upgrades and only in cases when their units are functioning properly at the time removal from the aircraft. In cases when customer units are found by our supplier to be non-repairable, the core deposit shall not be refunded and shipping charges shall apply if customers wish the return of these units to them.
The HONEYWELL BENDIX KING® KCS 55A Compass System provides the pilot with a simple, comprehensive visual display of the aircraft's heading and position in relation to a desired course. The KI 525A Pictorial Navigation Indicator is the panel display for the KCS 55A compass system. By combining the display functions of the standard Directional Gyro, the VOR and LOC deviation indicator with Glideslope display, the KI 525A simplifies navigation and reduces cockpit workload.
The KA 518 Slaving Control and Compensator Unit is panel-mounted and provides a means of selecting either the “slaved gyro” or “free gyro” modes. The free gyro mode allows manual slaving when fully automatic operation is not desired. The unit also contains a meter which indicates when there is a difference between the KI 525A compass card and the aircraft’s magnetic heading. Options to the KA 51 B include vertical or horizontal mounting. When space behind the panel is restricted, the compenstor unit may be re-moved and remote mounted.
The KMT 112 Magnetic Slaving Transmitter senses the direction of the earth’s magnetic field and continuously transmits this information through the slaving circuitry to the Directional Gyro which is automatically corrected for precession or “drift”. This sensor is mounted remotely, usually in a wingtip, to eliminate the possibility of magnetic interference.
The KG 102A Directional Gyro ia also is remote-mounted and it is intended to provide gyro-stabilization for the system while it also contains the slaving circuitry necessary for operation of the system.
The KA 52 or KA 57 Autopilot Adapters are optional remote-mounted units that convert direct current heading select and course select signals from the KI 525A into altemation current signals that are compatible with most aircrafl auto-pilot or flight director systems.
Installation parts and manuals of the above components are sold separately. For further information on these components please refer to their individual product presentations.
KCS 55A Compass System Features:
Remote mounted compass system consisting of KI-525A Pictorial Navigation Indicator, KG-102A Directional Gyro, KMT-112 Magnetic Azimuth Transmitter, KA-51A/B Slaving Accessory, and the KA-52 and KA-57 Autopilot Adapters, if required
Pictorial display of the horizontal navigation situation and also provides manual controls for course and heading datum selection (KI-525A)
Outputs for autopilot or flight director, VOR receivers, and additional compass loads (KI-525A)
Magnetic Heading and course information from VOR/LOC, GPS, Loran, or RNAV is combined on the KI-525A
Dual glideslope pointers in view only during an ILS approach (KI-525A)
Different KI-525A models available:
- with bootstrap heading synchro to provide source of slaved heading information
- with glideslope needle damping for use in high vibration environments such as helicopter
- capable of operating at either 30Hz or 400Hz
- capable of operating at 14 or 28VDC
