SAFE FLIGHT Angle of Attack (AoA) & Stall Warning Systems SKU: SFLT-WRNSYS-LFT/ΑΟΑ

SAFE FLIGHT (SF) is the world's leading manufacturer of aircraft lift instrumentation and control systems. SAFE FLIGHT FAA certified Lift Detectors & Angle of Attack (AoA) Sensors are installed on hundreds of aircraft worlwide.

SF’s Lift Detector is the foundation of SAFE FLIGHT’s Stall Warning systems. This was the first and still the industry standard for stall warning in light aircraft. It  consists of a small tab or vane which senses the change of the stagnation point on the wing and an alerting device used for stall warning. The  detector warns by light and horn of any danger of an approaching stall regardless of the flight maneuver. It comes in different variations complete with installation kit & instructions.

SF’s SCc Angle of Attack (AoA) system meets FAA requirements by providing both flashing red LEDs and an unmistakable audio output to alert the pilot of increasing AoA and an impending stall. It consists of two key components, the Lift Transducer and the the Indexer Computer. Available for retro-fit. Including the Lift Transducer, the Indexer Computer, and all necessary wiring, connectors and installation hardware.

Designed to detect the location of the stagnation point on the wing and relay this information to the pilot to aid him in awareness that he is nearing a stall. The lift detector, when properly installed and adjusted on the wing, senses the location of the stagnation point by means of a flat, spring-loaded vane which protrudes into the airflow on the wing undersurface. Airflow from the stagnation point moves the vane against the internal spring force and displaces the vane relative to the stagnation point position. The location is carefully chosen on the wing so that air which flows aft from the stagnation point position at the approach Angle of Attack deflects the vane aft a specified amount.

Lift Detector System

SF’s lift detector system consists of a small tab or vane which senses the change of the stagnation point on the wing and an alerting device used for stall warning. The  detector warns by light and horn of any danger of an approaching stall regardless of the flight maneuver. Never signals unless a stall is imminent. Consists of an instrument panel unit (fits standard 2-1/4" hole) containing a warning horn and signal light, and a small vane wing unit which operates a relay. Operation of the instrument does not depend upon air speed but rather on the air flow conditions of the wing. This product comes in different variations mentioned below complete with installation kit & instructions. Installation time: 26 hrs.

1) Contoured mounting plates to precisely fit the wing curvature.

2) Heated mounting plates and vanes for protection in icing conditions.

3) Pigtail connector or screw terminals.

Other variations include the plate’s surface treatment: bare aluminum, polished aluminum with clear anodize, standard irridite and black irridite.

Angle of Attack (AoA) System

SF’s SCc Angle of Attack (AoA) system is tailored specifically for certified aircraft in the general aviation market. SCc  delivers precise AoA information to help achieve consistent takeoff, climb, cruise, and landing approach performance. It meets FAA requirements by providing both flashing red LEDs and an unmistakable audio output to alert the pilot of increasing AoA and an impending stall.

Built on nearly 70 years of SF’s experience in primary stall warning and AoA systems, SCc is FAA approved for use in single engine certified aircraft. There are no STC's available.

SCc AoA system consists of two key components, the Lift Transducer mounted on the leading edge of the wing and the the Indexer Computer providing a heads-up display of AoA.  The Lift Transducer precisely measures the wing’s leading edge stagnation point and flow field. It’s a precise measurement of AoA regardless of aircraft weight, wing loading, slip condition or center of gravity. The Indexer Computer uses an LED-lit display, making it easy to read in all lighting conditions. It also has a pilot-settable Reference Marker for establishing AoA Climb, Cruise and Approach AoA targets. Available for retro-fit. Comes with the Lift Transducer and Indexer Computer, and all necessary wiring, connectors and installation hardware.

Product Characteristics & Benefits

Measures precise changes in AoA by tracking the stagnation point on the wing

Provides AoA trend information during all phases of flight

Indicates maximum efficiency with Best Angle and Best Rate Climb, regardless of aircraft weight or center of gravity

Allows for increased efficiency via LED Reference Marker to compensate for headwind / tailwind in cruise

Increased situational awareness with Low Airspeed Awareness warning

Instantaneous visual and audio feedback

Completely independent of aircraft pitot system, meaning it can be used as a backup in case of a pitot system failure.

Provides the pilot with AoA-based guidance for a variety of high-lift operational conditions such as:

Normal and short-field takeoffs and landings

Climb

Wind-adjusted AoA cruise speed for maximum range or maximum endurance
