This category includes different fluids used in aerospace and industrial applications including hydraulic oils and fluids, transmission, brake, metalworking fluids as well as coolants/anti-freeze fluids. Such fluids are offered in  different viscosities, viscosity indices, oxidation stability, wear resistance, seal compatibility and additives to serve application requirements.

Hydraulic oils are the most common form of hydraulic fluids. Quite often these two terms are used interchangeably. However their key difference between the two is that hydraulic fluids are used in automatic transmissions in automobile systems whereas hydraulic oils can not be used for this purpose.

Coolant fluids are often used in engines (mostly automobile ones) to keep their temperatures at a regulated level. Their use today in aircraft engines is limited as most of them are air-cooled. Hydraulic fluids (or liquids) are the medium by which power is transferred in a hydraulic machinery or system. Hydraulic systems can be found today in a wide variety of applications with their major components including the reservoir, pump, valve(s) and actuator(s) (motor, cylinder, etc.). Apart from their energy transmission function, they are also used for lubrication, heat transfer and contamination control. Today’s hydraulic fluids come in different varieties, most common being petroleum-based, water-based and synthetics. 

Petroleum-based or mineral-based fluids are the most widely used fluids today. These fluids offer a low-cost, high quality and readily available selection. The properties of a mineral-based fluid depend on the additives used, the quality of the original crude oil and the refining process. Additives in a mineral-based fluid offer a range of specific performance characteristic. Common hydraulic fluid additives include rust and oxidation inhibitors (R&O), anticorrosion agents, demulsifiers, antiwear (AW) and extreme pressure (EP) agents, VI improvers and defoamants. Additionally, some of them contain colorful dyes, allowing easy identification of leaks. Water-based fluids are used for fire-resistance due to their high-water content but, apart from their higher cost compared to conventional petroleum-based fluids, they have other disadvantages (e.g. lower wear resistance) which must be considered. They are available as oil-in-water emulsions, water-in-oil (invert) emulsions and water glycol blends and used in applications when fire resistance is needed. Water-based fluids can provide suitable lubrication characteristics but need to be monitored closely to avoid problems. Synthetic fluids are man-made lubricants and many offer excellent lubrication characteristics in high-pressure and high- temperature systems. Some of the advantages of synthetic fluids may include fire-resistance (phosphate esters), lower friction, natural detergency (organic esters and ester-enhanced synthesized hydrocarbon fluids) and thermal stability.

NYCO HYDRAUNYCOIL® FH 51...

NYCO HYDRAUNYCOIL® FH 51 (analog to AMG-10)  is a petroleum-based hydraulic fluid with a viscosity of 14 cSt at 40°C, a perfect hydraulic fluid for landing gear shock absorbers, flaps and slats transmission systems. It is the original NYCO  reliable and economic hydraulic fluid used as shock strut fluid on commercial and many types of military aircraft landing gears (Airbus, ATR, Bombardier, Fokker, Embraer, Dassault Aviation Mirage fighters equipped with Messier-Hispano-Bugatti landing gears, etc.). Super clean as it is micro filtered and supplied with a controlled level of contaminant, HYDRAUNYCOIL® FH 51 contains anti-corrosion and anti-wear additives, has an extremely wide operating temperature range (from -54°C to +135°C in air-tight circuits and -54°C to +90°C in open circuits) and a viscosity index exceeding 300. The total shelf-life of 2160 days. Meets MIL-PRF-5606 (*) specifications for hydraulic fluids, hydraulic oils, hydrocarbon-based, with very high viscosity index and low temperature properties.

AEROSHELL® Aviation...

The AEROSHELL® Fluid 41 is a mineral oil based  "super clean" hydraulic oil manufactured to a very high level of cleanliness and possesses improved fluid properties. It is suitable for use with brake and hydraulic systems with synthetic rubber seals.

The AEROSHELL® Fluid 41 contains additives which provide excellent low temperature fluidity as well as exceptional anti-wear, oxidation – corrosion inhibition and shear stability. In addition metal de-activators and foam inhibitors are included in this high viscosity index fluid to enhance performance in hydraulic applications. Capable of wide temperature range operation. Compatible with AEROSHELL® Fluids 4, 31, 51, 61, 71 and SSF/LGF. Dyed red for easy identification. Meets MIL-PRF-5606H/MIL-H-5606J cleanliness requirements for aviation hydraulic oils. Available in different packaging options. 

The AEROSHELL® Fluid 41 should be used in systems with synthetic rubber components and must not be used in systems incorporating natural rubber. Chlorinated solvents should not be used for cleaning hydraulic components which use this fluid. The residual solvent contaminates the hydraulic fluid and may lead to corrosion.

AEROSHELL® Fluid 41 Main Applications:

Intended as an hydraulic fluid in all modern aircraft applications requiring a mineral hydraulic fluid.

SWEPCO 201 Multi-purpose...

SWEPCO 201 MultiPurpose Gear Lubricant by SOUTHWESTERN PETROLEUM LUBRICANTS LLC.is a high performance single weight gear oil formulated to ensure maximum performance in a wide range of mobile and industrial gearbox applications. It can be used as a multi-purpose gear lubricant for most manual gear boxes, stationary industrial or rolling stock. SWEPCO’s premium high VI base stocks, proprietary Lubium® II anti-oxidation/anticorrosion package and other advanced additive chemistry provide costefficient extended drain protection from wear, foaming, overheating, deposits, rust and water contamination. SWEPCO 201 Multi-purpose Transmission Gear Oil is available in different viscosities (SAE Gear Oil Grades): 80w90, 90w, 140w and 250w and different packaging options.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA AMG-10...

AMG-10 is a low viscosity hydraulic oil, analog to NYCO HYDRAUNYCOIL® FH 51. Sourced from quality producers this hydraulic oil is offered as part of our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines along with other aviation oils, fluids and  other lubricants for Russian and Ukrainian aircraft (please see our separate product presentations).

The AMG-10 is produced in accordance with GOST 6794-75 (as mod. 1-5) from carefully selected, highly refined, low viscosity base stocks with ultra low freezing point. It is blended with a special thickening agent with high mechanical stability, as well as antiwear and antioxidation additives. It is used in medium stress hydraulic systems of aircraft and ground equipment, operating over the wide ambient temperature range from -60°С up to +55°С. The AMG-10 composition allows its use to replace the all-season oil VMGZ 45/60 and most other low viscosity hydraulic oils. As long as manufacturer's recommendations are followed,  the AMG-10 shelf life is ten years for temperate and climates and 5 years for tropical and equatorial climatic zones. For transport and storage AMG-10 fluid containers should best be placed side by side or upside down to prevent penetration of foreign impurities.

CASTROL® BRAYCO™ 599...

CASTROL® is a producer of oils, lubricants, fluids and greases for a wide range of applications. The company aerospace product range includes  lubricants, fluids and cleaners. Acquired by BP in 1992.

CASTROL® BRAYCO™ 599 is a specially designed synthetic base, dark amber, rust preventative concentrate.It is designed for use as an additive for storage at 10-15% by volume for turbine engines and helicopter transmissions which use MIL-PRF-23699 synthetic turbine oils. Lower concentrations, between 5 and 10 percent, may be suitable for some component storage applications, depending upon storage conditions and length of storage. 

To receive full protection when the equipment is intended to be placed in extended storage, CASTROL® BRAYCO™ 599 should be added to the oil sump immediately after an oil change, especially in locations where high humidity and salt spray are present. The corrosion inhibited oil should be capable of limited use, not exceeding 25 hours. It is recommended to add CASTROL® BRAYCO™ 599 in concentrations between 10 and 15 percent by volume. 

Meets all the requirements of, and is qualified to MIL-PRF-8188D. Complies with General Electric, Aircraft Engine Group Specification D50TF6-S1.

CASTROL® BRAYCO™ 599 has a maximum recommended shelf life of 9 years from date of manufacture. This shelf life assumes that the product is stored in its original unopened packaging in ambient temperature conditions.

Consult the engine manufacturer's maintenance manual or service bulletin to determine the specific engine model storage requirements.
