Aluminum Sheets 2024-T3 Clad (*) offer an excellent strength-to-weight ratio after heat treatment, high corrosion resistance, high fatigue resistance, and average machinability. The addition of copper to this alloy makes 2024 one of the strongest aluminum alloys. 2024 is typically used in aerospace applications, clock parts, computer parts, hydraulic parts, bolts, valves, nuts, pistons, and gears. When specified, the sheets are PVC covered one side and offered in different thicknesses and dimensions in inches.

Properties: good formability, fair machinability, heat treatable, high strength-to-weight ratio

(*) Cladding Aluminum. A common attribution to certain types of aluminum parts is “clad” aluminum. An extremely thin sheet of pure aluminum laminated onto each side of an aluminum alloy sheet improves the corrosion resistance with little impairment of strength.

2024-O Alloy ALCLAD...

2024-O CLAD (ALCLAD) Aluminum, often referred to as aerospace grade aluminum, is an excellent choice when high strength capabilities, fatigue resistance and high corrosion resistance are needed. Aluminum 2024 O-temper sheets/plates are found in aircraft siding and skins because of its high strength-to-weight ratio and clad aluminum or Alclad  surface, further improving corrosion resistance. 

2024-O temper aluminium has no heat treating. Since corrosion resistance is relatively low, it is commonly used with an anodized finish or in CLAD form (ALCLAD) with a thin surface layer of high purity aluminum.  As an enhanced sheet for fuselage applications, ALCLAD offers improved fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth while maintaining the strength characteristics of the alloy.

2024-O Alloy (Annealed) ALCLAD Aluminum Sheets are readily formed in the annealed condition and may be subsequently heat treated. They feature good machinability and can be machined to a high finish. Offered in different thicknesses, widths and  lengths in inches subject to minimum order quantity restrictions, these sheets can be cut to smaller lengths to facilitate their shipment. Aluminum alloy 6061 is the most commonly used aluminum alloy in the world due to its positive characteristics. It has magnesium and silicon as its main composition elements and is a cold-treated aluminum forging product with the advantages of 4000 Series and 5000 Series. Aluminum 6061, T6 or T651 tempered sheets exhibit above average corrosion resistance, excellent processability with no deformations, high strength, light weight, good weldability, and the ability to be heat treated for even higher strength, all at an affordable price. The difference between T6 and T651 tempers of an 6061 aluminum sheet is that the internal stress of T6 is relatively large and the processing will be deformed under normal circumstances; the suitable state for processing should be T651, which is based on T6 to stretch and eliminate internal stress. Both are typically used in aerospace, automotive, cameras, couplings, marine hardware, electrical components, decorative hardware, structural applications, pins, brakes, pistons, valves, and bicycle frames.
