Metal Tubes & Pipes

This category includes metal tubing and piping furnished mostly as part of AVIATIONEU NEW ERA product lines in seamless and welded types, different materials, shapes/cross sections, manufacturing methods and conditions, specifications, dimensions and pre cut or cut to order length options. Non metal piping is included in a different product category. Although both the words" tubes" and "pipes" are often used interchangeably in our product presentations, largely because both are hollow shaped, there are important distinctions between the two. Tubes are mostly used in structural and aesthetic applications while pipes are used for transporting fluids, liquids, and gases. Seamless tubes are extruded and drawn from a billet while welded tubing is produced from a strip that is roll formed and welded to produce a tube.  In general, seamless tubes/pipes are completely homogenous, resulting in more strength, corrosion resistance, and the ability to withstand higher pressure than the welded ones. Welded tubes are considerably less expensive than seamless ones and are readily available in long continuous lengths. Tubes are measured by the outside diameter (OD) and wall thickness. A pipe, on the other hand, is measured by its inside diameter (ID).

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA Honed...

Honed tubes/pipes are also known as  hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder tubing due to their primary uses for their production or repair. They are tubes with their inside diameter either honed or skived & roller burnished resulting in extremely precise inside diameter (ID) dimensions and smooth ID surfaces. Honing is an abrasive machining process involving the use of abrasive polishing stones and abrasive paper to remove small amounts of material and improve surface geometry and surface texture. The manufacturing process is determined upon the tube dimension, mold availability and customer ewquirements. Honed tubing is used in applications where a high precise inside diameter dimension and a smooth inside surface are required.

As honed tubes are the most important materials for manufacturing and repairing hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, the quality of the honed tube is of critical importance. Honed  tubes/pipes are offered as part of our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines in different materials, such as steel, stainless steel and aluminum alloys in various grades and tempers depending on the intended application. Sourced from quality producers, the AVIATIONEU NEW ERA honed tubing is available in different size ranges in imperial  (in.) and metric systems and pre-determined or cut to order lengths. Depending on the producer, they comply with different standards/specifications. Manufacturing test reports can be supplied upon request additional cost, unless otherwise mentioned.

Aluminum alloys 6061 and 6063 (AL6061/AL6063), with magnesium and silicon as their major alloying elements, are both popular alloys used in extrusions for a variety of architectural, machinery, equipment, and consumer products. Similar in composition & mechanical properties they come as O (annealed), or in tempered grades. Their magnesium content provides increased strength, and silicon reduces their melting temperature. Their formability, weldability, corrosion resistance, and moderately high strength enhance their versatility. However, there are differences between them and factors affecting their suitability for different applications. 6061 aluminum is the most commonly used aluminum alloy in the world used in all kinds of applications ranging from electronics to welded assemblies. Compared to AL2024 (aka aircraft aluminum) 2024 aluminum’s higher yield strength makes it more suitable if strength is a priority. 6061 tubes, sheets, bars, and plates offer high- to moderate strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and superior machinability and weldability while 6063 aluminum tubes offer an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, superior corrosion resistance, and a fine appearance and finish.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA 2024...

AL2024, the so-called aircraft aluminum, is an aluminium alloy, with copper as the primary alloying element. It is used in applications requiring high strength to weight ratio, as well as good fatigue resistance, weldablility and average machinability. The addition of copper to this alloy makes 2024 one of the strongest aluminum alloys. It comes in different tempers (O without heat treatment or T with heat treatment). It is non-magnetic and heat treatable but it also is more succeptible to corrosion than most other aluminum alloys.

Due to the poor corrosion resistance of this alloy  it is often clad (specified as CLAD or ALCLAD) in which case high-purity aluminium surface layers are metallurgically bonded to the aluminium alloy core material. 2024-T3 is typically used in structures where a high strength to weight ratio is necessary, clock parts, computer parts, hydraulic parts, bolts, valves, nuts, pistons, and gears.

AL2024 tubes/pipes are offered as part of our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines.Tubes are designed to act as structural support, whereas pipes are designed to carry liquids and gases.
