Metal Materials & Products

This category includes a range of metals such as steel, aluminum and others, in different alloys and tempers, used for manufacturing products in different shapes (sheets and plates, bars/rods, tubes, wires, etc.). They are widely encountered in aerospace, automotive and many other industrial sectors. Alloys are created by adding small amounts of metallic elements into the base metals to improve their characteristics. These “alloying” elements allow a base metal to improve its attributes and better respond to the requirements of specific applications. In the case of aluminum alloys, each alloy has attributes such as high strength, conductivity, and even resistance to environmental effects.  A naming system using four-digit designators has been developed by the US Aluminum Association, to organize them. The first digit represents the specific alloying elements and general characteristics of the group, or the “series”.

In selecting an alloy, its mechanical properties should be carefully considered. The mechanical properties of different alloys differ based on how they are heat treated, or made stronger using the tempering process.

Some important measures when considering mechanical properties include the yield strength, ultimate strength, shear strength, fatigue strength, as well as the modulus of elasticity and shear modulus. The yield strength describes the maximum amount of stress needed to elastically deform the part in a given loading arrangement (tension, compression, twisting, etc.). The ultimate strength, on the other hand, describes the maximum amount of stress a material can withstand before fracturing. Before the fracture point, the material will undergo plastic (or permanent) deformation, and will not return to its original shape. For static applications, the yield strength is the more important design constraint as per industry standard design practices; however, the ultimate strength can be useful for certain applications where this kind of deformation is possible. The shear strength measures the maximum amount of “shearing” stress that a material can experience before it permanently deforms. Fatigue strength is the ability of a material to resist breaking under cyclical loading, where a small load is repeatedly imparted on the material over time. This value is useful for applications where a part is subject to repetitive loading cycles such as vehicle axles or pistons. The modulus of elasticity and shear modulus are measures of a material’s resistance to deformation.

Sourced from quality producrs, a wide range of metals are offered, most of them as part of our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. They are available in pre-cut dimensions or cut-to-oder, meeting different specifications and in diferent units of sale, (pieces or tons) depending on the wanted order quantity and requirements. AVIATIONEU NEW ERA Grade...

Grade 410 is a basic general-purpose hardenable martensitic stainless steel alloy for highly stressed requirements, providing good corrosion resistance. Martensitic stainless steels are fabricated using techniques requiring final heat treatment. These grades are less resistant to corrosion when compared to those of austenitic. Their operating temperatures are often affected by their loss of strength at high temperatures, due to over-tempering and loss of ductility at sub-zero temperatures. Quenching and tempering can harden grade 410 steels while their corrosion resistance can be further enhanced by hardening, tempering and polishing.

410 is a very common grade used in many industries such as aerospace, power generation, and general industry. Generally used for applications requiring mild corrosion, heat resistance and high strength and ductility. Indicative examples include steam / gas turbine blades and buckets, bushings, valve components, fasteners, nuclear reactor control rod mechanisms, petrochemical equipment and machine parts.

The Normalized condition (sometimes referred to as "Condition N") is the harder and stronger condition and is best used when forming is not needed. Normalizing relieves internal stress on steel and improves toughness in steels that may harden after the cold working process. The Annealed condition (sometimes referred to as "Condition A") is the softer and formable condition and is best used when forming is needed. Annealing relieves internal stresses, softens and makes the material more ductile.

4130 alloy steel (Chrome Moly) seamless round tubes are offered in Normalized (N )  or Annealed (A) conditions as part of our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. They have been for years the standard of the aircraft industry. Steel alloy 4130 (ST4130), also known as Chrome Moly after the 2 key elements of its composition, chromium, and molybdenum, is a general-purpose alloy steel widely used by the aviation and motorsports industries due to its weldability, fabrication, and mild hardenability in all offered forms (tubes, bars, sheets and plates). They are available in two different material states (Normalized and Annealed) depending on the process of how the material is heated and cooled.

These tubes offer good strength and weldability without compromising steel abrasion or impact resistance and can also be made even stronger through heat treatment. They are commonly used in in structural applications, gears, fasteners, and aircraft exteriors. Tensile Strength: 90,000 PSI. Available in a range of outer diameters, wall thicknesses and pre-cut lengths in inches or cut to order (CTO) lengths of 12 inches (1 foot)) or multiples. Apperating price of CTO tubes is per foot (12 inches). Depending on the supplier, they comply with different standards/specifications, such as MIL-T6736 standard or ASTM/A S1906 specifications. Unless otherwise mentioned, there is additional cost if manufacturing test reports are required. For additional information, please refer to the supplied documentation or contact us.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA AISI...

SAE AISI(*) 1018 (G10180**) (separately presented) & 1020 (G10200**) mild/low carbon steel grades are are iron alloys with basically identical composition. Please refer to the supplied documentation for the comparison of SAE AISI 1018/1020 steel properties and additional information provided at the Product Description section. Technical data of supplied materials should be used ONLY FOR REFERENCE, NOT FOR DESIGN, and any decisions on their use remain entirely at the buyer discretion.

SAE AISI 1020 steel, aka C1020 steel in cold worked condition, is one of the most commonly used plain carbon steels. It is a low hardness and tensile strength carbon steel alloy with Brinell hardness ranging between  119 - 235 and tensile strength between 410 - 790 MPa. It features high machinability, high strength, high ductility and good weldability by most welding processes supporting its use in all industrial sectors. Due to its low carbon content, it is resistant to induction hardening or flame hardening but carburization or carbon nitriding can be applied to achieve a hardness value of more than  Rc65.  Normally used in turned and polished or cold drawn conditions.

Sourced from quality producers, SAE AISI 1020 steel tubes are offered as part of our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. They can be furnished Normalized, Annealed or in other conditions, in different specifications, different shapes (cross sections), round, square, rectangular, etc. and dimensions in inches or millimeters (depending on the supplier) to meet project requirements. In the case of Metric round tubes, they are cold drawn seamless tubes available in different outer diameters and wall thicknesses in mm and pre cut or cut to order lengths in meters or centimeters. Those in inch system  are offered as DOM (Drawn Over a Mandrel***), with outer diameters and wall thicknesses in inches and lenghts in inches or feet.  Although they are welded tubes, the weld line becomes nearly undetectable during the manufacturing process and they are often referred to as seamless. Appearing prices for pre cut tubes are per piece in indicated dimensions.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA 2024...

The AL2024 aluminum alloy (with copper as the primary alloying element) is often used in aircraft structural applications due to its high strength and fatigue resistance.  It is suitable for applications requiring high stress and strain resistance. The AL2024 aluminum alloy is stronger but less versatile than AL6061 alloy, which is more corrosion resistant, easier to weld, and more suited to machining, but less strong than the AL7075 alloy, also commonly used in the aerospace industry.

AL2024 aluminum alloy sheets are offered as part of AVIATIONEU NEW ERA product lines. They come as Annealed (O Temper) without heat treatment or as heat treated to attain their maximum strength. Heat treated sheets are available in vatious T tempers (such as T3,T4,T5,T6 and T651) for use in a range of aviation and industrial applications.

Sourced from quality producers, AVIATIONEU NEW ERA AL2024-O aluminum sheets come without heat treatment. They are readily formed in the annealed condition, possess good machinability, may be heat treated and can be machined to a high finish. Since their corrosion resistance is relatively low, they are commonly used with an anodized finish or in CLAD (ALCLAD) form with a thin surface layer of high purity aluminum (please refer to separate product presentations).

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA AL2024-O aluminum sheets are mostly offered for cut to order in different thicknesses, widths and lengths, consisting a cost effective solution when large quantities are demanded.
