Metal Materials & Products

This category includes a range of metals such as steel, aluminum and others, in different alloys and tempers, used for manufacturing products in different forms (sheets and plates, bars/rods, tubes, wires, etc.). They are widely encountered in aerospace, automotive and many other industrial sectors. Alloys are created by adding small amounts of metallic elements into the base metals to improve their characteristics. These “alloying” elements allow a base metal to improve its attributes and better respond to the requirements of specific applications. Alloy metals an be classified in a variety of different ways depending on their composition (e.g. carbon, low-alloy or stainless steel, in the case of steels), manufacturing methods, finishing method (such as hot rolling or cold rolling), product form (bar, sheet, tube, etc), heat treatment (such as annealing, quenching and tempering), required strength level  as specified in ASTM standards) and others. Because of the wide variety of chemical compositions possible and the fact that some steels are used in more than one heat-treated, condition, some overlap exists among the alloy steel classifications.

In the case of aluminum alloys, each alloy has attributes such as high strength, conductivity, and even resistance to environmental effects.  A naming system using four-digit designators has been developed by the US Aluminum Association, to organize them. The first digit represents the specific alloying elements and general characteristics of the group, or the “series”.

In selecting an alloy, its mechanical properties should be carefully considered. The mechanical properties of different alloys differ based on how they are heat treated, or made stronger using the tempering process.

Some important measures when considering mechanical properties include the yield strength, ultimate strength, shear strength, fatigue strength, as well as the modulus of elasticity and shear modulus. The yield strength describes the maximum amount of stress needed to elastically deform the part in a given loading arrangement (tension, compression, twisting, etc.). The ultimate strength, on the other hand, describes the maximum amount of stress a material can withstand before fracturing. Before the fracture point, the material will undergo plastic (or permanent) deformation, and will not return to its original shape. For static applications, the yield strength is the more important design constraint as per industry standard design practices; however, the ultimate strength can be useful for certain applications where this kind of deformation is possible. The shear strength measures the maximum amount of “shearing” stress that a material can experience before it permanently deforms. Fatigue strength is the ability of a material to resist breaking under cyclical loading, where a small load is repeatedly imparted on the material over time. This value is useful for applications where a part is subject to repetitive loading cycles such as vehicle axles or pistons. The modulus of elasticity and shear modulus are measures of a material’s resistance to deformation.

Sourced from quality producrs, a wide range of metals are offered, most of them as part of our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. They are available in pre-cut dimensions or cut-to-oder, meeting different specifications and in diferent units of sale, (pieces or tons) depending on the wanted order quantity and requirements. AVIATIONEU NEW ERA Grade...

Grade 410 is a basic general-purpose hardenable martensitic stainless steel alloy for highly stressed requirements, providing good corrosion resistance. Martensitic stainless steels are fabricated using techniques requiring final heat treatment. These grades are less resistant to corrosion when compared to those of austenitic. Their operating temperatures are often affected by their loss of strength at high temperatures, due to over-tempering and loss of ductility at sub-zero temperatures. Quenching and tempering can harden grade 410 steels while their corrosion resistance can be further enhanced by hardening, tempering and polishing.

410 is a very common grade used in many industries such as aerospace, power generation, and general industry. Generally used for applications requiring mild corrosion, heat resistance and high strength and ductility. Indicative examples include steam / gas turbine blades and buckets, bushings, valve components, fasteners, nuclear reactor control rod mechanisms, petrochemical equipment and machine parts.

They are available in two different material states (Normalized and Annealed) depending on the process of how the material is heated and cooled.

The Normalized condition (sometimes referred to as "Condition N") is the harder and stronger condition and is best used when forming is not needed. Normalizing relieves internal stress on steel and improves toughness in steels that may harden after the cold working process. The Annealed condition (sometimes referred to as "Condition A") is the softer and formable condition and is best used when forming is needed. Annealing relieves internal stresses, softens and makes the material more ductile.

4130 alloy steel (Chrome Moly) seamless round tubes are offered in Normalized (N )  or Annealed (A) conditions as part of our own branded (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. They have been for years the standard of the aircraft industry. These tubes offer good strength and weldability without compromising steel abrasion or impact resistance and can also be made even stronger through heat treatment. AVIATIONEU NEW ERA 4130...

Steel alloy 4130 (ST4130), also known as Chrome Moly after the 2 key elements of its composition, chromium, and molybdenum, is a general-purpose alloy steel widely used by the aviation and motorsports industries due to its weldability, fabrication, and mild hardenability in all offered forms (tubes, bars, sheets and plates).

They are commonly used in in structural applications, gears, fasteners, and aircraft exteriors. Tensile Strength: 90,000 PSI. Available in a range of outer diameters, wall thicknesses and pre-cut lengths in inches or cut to order (CTO) lengths of 12 inches (1 foot)) or multiples. Apperating price of CTO tubes is per foot (12 inches). Depending on the supplier, they comply with different standards/specifications, such as MIL-T6736 standard or ASTM/A S1906 specifications. Unless otherwise mentioned, there is additional cost if manufacturing test reports are required. For additional information, please refer to the supplied documentation or contact us.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA 6061...

Aluminum alloy 6061 is the most commonly used aluminum alloy in the world due to its positive characteristics. It has magnesium and silicon as its main composition elements and is a cold-treated aluminum forging product with the advantages of 4000 Series and 5000 Series. Aluminum 6061, T6 or T651 tempered sheets exhibit above average corrosion resistance, excellent processability with no deformations, high strength, light weight, good weldability, and the ability to be heat treated for even higher strength, all at an affordable price. The difference between T6 and T651 tempers of an 6061 aluminum sheet is that the internal stress of T6 is relatively large and the processing will be deformed under normal circumstances; the suitable state for processing should be T651, which is based on T6 to stretch and eliminate internal stress. Both are typically used in aerospace, automotive, cameras, couplings, marine hardware, electrical components, decorative hardware, structural applications, pins, brakes, pistons, valves, and bicycle frames. Aluminum alloy 6061-T6 sheets from AVIATIONEU NEW ERA product lines are offered in different pre cut thicknesses, widths and lengths and they are PVC covered one side. They meet AMS 4027/ASTM B209 specifications.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA MS14144...

A castellated nut, also referred to as a castle nut or slotted nut, is a nut with slots (notches) cut into one end. Although castellated nuts are frequently referred to as slotted nuts, there are slight differences. Castellated nuts are formed with a round section at the top where the slots are located. Slotted nuts do not have this rounded modification. The flat sides of slotted nuts extend fully from the top to the bottom of the nut. Both castellated and slotted nuts are designed to use a pin (usually a split pin) that fits through the slots and through a hole in the screw to which the nut is attached. This pin prevents the nut from turning and loosening. Compared with slotted nuts, castellated nuts allow the cotter pin to be confined closer to the margins of the nut itself, providing added secureness.

MS14144 Series nuts are slotted hexagon style lightweight castellated self locking nuts manufactured from steel and cadmium plated. They are offered as part of our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines in different sizes with right-hand thread direction and a dry film lubricant as applicable, specified by the letter "L" in the part number.

Note: Depending on availability, these parts part may be supplied without or with Dry-Film Lubricant indicated by letter "L" in the SKU.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA ASTM...

These AVIATIONEU NEW ERA hexagon locking nuts comform with ASTM A194 standard specification for carbon, alloy and stainless steel nuts used in high pressure, temperature or other special-purpose applications. They can be indicatively used in the process industries, such as petroleum and chemicals for pressure vessels, valves, flanges, and fittings. Sourced by certified manufacturers these nuts are competitively priced and offered in metric (M3 - M36 diameter) or inch (3/16" - 1.1/2") sizes, different thread types and grade range to meet respective design, service conditions, mechanical properties, and high temperature requirements. AVIATIONEU NEW ERA DIN 982...

A nylon-insert lock nut (also referred to as elastic stop nut, nut with a non-metallic insert  or nyloc nut) is a type of locknut with a nylon collar that increases friction on the screw thread. Nyloc nuts are widely used in products and structures subject to dynamic loads where motion or vibration can cause fasteners to become loose. Their design prevents the connection from loosening without the need for additional lock washers. The nylon insert is situated at the top of the nut and when tightened locks against the thread. The insert deforms elastically over the threads as tightening pressure is applied. The insert locks the nut against the screw as a result of friction, caused by the radial compressive force resulting from the deformation of the nylon. Nyloc nuts retain their locking ability up to 250 °F.

Metric hexagonal nylon-insert self-locking nuts conform to DIN 982 and DIN 985 standards. The main difference between DIN 982 and DIN 985 is the height of the nuts. With the same thread diameter, DIN 982 nuts are taller than DIN 985 nuts. DIN 982 nuts are often termed as “P” Type lock nuts while lower profile ones of DIN 985 standard are called “T” Type. In addition, the size range of DIN 985 nuts is wider than that of DIN 982.

Low profile DIN 985 are used in places where height is limited, while standard height DIN 982 nuts are used in connections where increased strength and fixation are required.

Both DIN 982 and DIN 985 lock nuts are offered as part of our own (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. Sourced from quality manufactuurers they are competitively priced and can be supplied in different materials (Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel & Stainless Steel), grades (Class5, Class6, Calss8, Class10), metric thread sizes (typically M3 to M30), thread pitches and finishes (natural color,white/yellow zinc plated, chrome plated, black oxide and others).

For additional information please consult the supplied documentation.

Notes:

Different metric thread sizes are designated by the letter "M" indicating the nut's clearance diameter in mm.

Nut thread pitch indicates the distance between threads measured along the length of the nut expressed in mm.

In the case of stainless steel lock nuts, the stainless steel grades are denoted with codes such as A2 or A4 and dash numbers indicating the minimum tensile strength to be met by the material. For example, A2-70 relates to a nylon-insert lock nut made from 304 stainless steel with a minimum tensile strength of 700N/mm² (MPa).
