AVIATIONEU NEW ERA 2024 Aluminum Alloy T3 Temper (Heat Treated) Sheets SKU: AVEUNE-SHT-AL2024-T3

The AL2024 aluminum alloy (with copper as the primary alloying element) also known as aerospace grade aluminum, is commonly used in aircraft structural applications due to its high strength and fatigue resistance. It is suitable for uses requiring high stress and strain resistance. This alloy is stronger but less versatile than AL6061 alloy, which is more corrosion resistant, easier to weld, and more suited to machining, but less strong than the AL7075 alloy. AL2024 aluminum alloy sheets come as Annealed (O Temper) without heat treatment or as heat treated to attain their maximum strength. Heat treated sheets are available in vatious T tempers (such as T3,T4,T5,T6 and T651) for use in a range of aviation and industrial applications.

2024 T3 Alloy Aluminum Sheets are offered as part of AVIATIONEU NEW ERA product lines for a wide range of uses including aerospace, clock parts, computer parts, hydraulic parts, bolts, valves, nuts, pistons and gears. Sourced from quality producers, these sheets are offered in different thicknesses and specific widths and lengths in inches and they are PVC film covered one/two side(s) (depending on the producer) for protection. Also offered as CLAD (aka ALCLAD) (*) for increased resistance to corrosion (see separate product presentation). They comply with SAE AMS and ASTM specifications.

For additional information, please refer to our attached Brief Guide on Aluminum Grades & Temper Designations, the individual product presentations or contact us for quotation.

(*) CLAD, or sometimes referred to as ALCLAD,  is a corrosion-resistant aluminium sheet formed from high-purity aluminium surface layers metallurgically bonded (rolled onto) to high-strength aluminium alloy core material. As an enhanced sheet for fuselage applications, ALCLAD offers improved fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth while maintaining the strength characteristics of the alloy. ALCLAD also offers improved fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth while maintaining the strength characteristics of the alloy.

(*) Difference between CLAD (ALCLAD) and Heat Treat Bare Aluminum

CLAD is a corrosion-resistant aluminium sheet formed from high-purity aluminium surface layers metallurgically bonded (rolled onto) to high-strength aluminium alloy core material. Heat treated aluminum has the addition of copper, magnesium, zinc or silicon. This allows the material to be heat treated or solution heat treated. While the addition of these alloying elements allows for greater strength it also reduces the corrosive resistance of the material and that is where cladding comes in.  To increase the corrosion resistance the material is clad with high purity aluminum. The clad is usually a film from 2.5% to 5% of the total thickness of the material and not only protects it from corrosion but also has a galvanic effect to further protect the core material. As an enhanced sheet for fuselage applications, ALCLAD offers improved fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth while maintaining the strength characteristics of the alloy.
