DIN LN 29679 / LN 29693...

A plate nut, also known as a nut plate, anchor nut or anchor plate, is a stamped sheet metal nut that is usually riveted to a workpiece. These terms are used interchangeably throughout product presentations to describe respective products.

Anchor nuts  have a long tube that is internally threaded and a plate with two clearance holes for rivets. They are self-locking nuts resisting loosening under vibrations and torque. They offered in fixed, floating, miniature and countersunk body, versions and one-lug, two-lug, short-lug, corner or right angle body configurations. Unlike fixed anchor nuts, their floating counterparts have a built-in nut that can move slightly to align with the threaded rod. This floating version provides flexibility when installing the bolt or screw.

Anchor nuts in Metric system for aerospace applications are offered as part of ΟΕΜ manufacturers (such as PAOLO ASTORI) or our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines in different metric sizes, materials and finishes. Those of DIN LN29679 Series relate to self locking floating two-lug low profile anchor nuts made from 25CrMo4 Alloy Structural Steel and can withstand temparatures up to 235 °C. Their counterparts in DIN LN29693 (*) Series are made from Incoloy Alloy® A-286 (also known as A286 Alloy Stainless Steel, a nickel and iron-based, austenitic superalloy) and can be used for temperatures  up to 425 °C. Both are sold mostly in pieces but also in packs where the number of anchor nuts per pack is indicated after the letters "PK" in the product SKU.

Aircraft General Standards...

Aircraft General Standards (AGS) were issued by the Directorate of Technical Development of the Air Ministry from the 1920’s and persist till today through substitutions to British Standards and AGS revisions. They relate to fasteners  such as bolts, nuts, rivets, fork joints, taper pins, common to all types of aircraft. AGS fasteners are made in a range of sizes and different materials. In their identification system AGS parts are listed in sequential number, eg AGS 500, AGS 501 even though the number does not generally group common parts together nor does it follow a specific chronological order. Special parts made for specific aircraft have no marking to indicate size or material, but are marked with a part number.

Anchor nuts (aka nut plates) are designed for blind mounted applications where it is impractical to use hex nuts. Stiffnuts, in particular, feature a very high friction between the threads of the nut and the bolt so that the nut may be considered self-locking. Several types of stiffnuts have been designed for use on aircraft. AGS 2007 series relates to double lug anchor locking nuts (aka thick stiffnuts) while  those in AGS 2008 and 2009 series relate to thin and countersunk stiffnuts.

AGS 2007 series anchor nuts are offered as nyloc (*) (with nylon-insert) or all-metal style. They can be furnished in different materials (aluminum, cadmium plated steel or corrosion resistant steel (CRES). Available with BA or BSF (**) threads as NEW OLD STOCK (NOS) items in limited quantities from  stocks of our co-operating suppliers as special order non refundable and non-returnable items. Please refer to the supplied documentation or contact us.

(*) Nyloc nut (aka nylon-insert lock nut, polymer-insert lock nut, or elastic stop nut) is a kind of locknut with a nylon collar that increases friction on the screw thread.

(**) British Association (BA) Threads. small sized screw threads still used in some precision instruments, such as optics and moving-coil meters, relays as well as modelling applications. Recommended by the British Standards Institution for use instead of the smaller British Standard Whitworth (BSW) and British Standard Fine (BSF) thread screws (those below 1⁄4 inch).

British Standard Fine (BSF) Threads. Screw thread form, used as a fine-pitch alternative to British Standard Whitworth (BSW) threads. Common applications include British machine tool industry and cars. Superseded by the American UNF threads and later Metric standards.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA...

National Aerospace Standards (NAS) are voluntary standards developed and maintained by committees and working groups of subject matter experts from member companies of the U.S. Aerospace Industries Association (AIA).

These standards have served as the foundation for the development of aircraft, spacecraft, watercraft, ground vehicles, machinery, and electronics.

NAS parts are most well-known for state-of-the-art, high-strength, precision fasteners, electrical connectors, splices and terminations, rod end bearings, and many other types of hardware and components. The NA prefix relates to metric standards.

NA-0027/NA-0028 Series Metric Self-Locking Floating Two-Lug Nut Plates (*) form part of NAS high-strength, precision fasteners. Sourced from quality manufacturers they are offered as part of our own labelled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines in different materials, finishes, thread sizes and dimensions in Metric system. Usually sold in pieces but packs are also used where the number of anchor nuts per pack is indicated after the letters "PK" in the product SKU. (*) also termed as plate nuts, anchor nuts or anchor plates. These terms are used interchangeably to describe the respective fasteners.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA High...

High-Speed Steel (HSS) is a metal alloy made up primarily of iron, tungsten, and carbon. It's known for its hardness, toughness, and ability to withstand high temperatures without losing its strength or shape. It also has excellent abrasion resistance properties, which make it useful for cutting tools. HSS drill bits are extremely hardwearing and particularly well designed for drilling into relatively hard metal surfaces and wood, as they are much more resistant to the heat generated from the fast speed operation. The front edges cut the material, whilst the spirals remove debris from the hole. Apart from HSS, Cobalt is often used as an alloying agent in steels to improve the hardenability, strength, and wear resistance in machining applications but also due to its ability to resist wear at higher temperatures while still maintaining its strength and shape. Cobalt-based alloys are typically harder than HSS alloys but are also more prone to cracking or chipping if not handled properly. Compared to HSS drill bits which are more elastic and, as such, don't break easily, those containing cobalt are more brittle and chip quickly.

Sourced from quality suppliers, threaded hex shank drill bits are offered as part of our own labeled (AVIATIONEU NEW ERA) product lines. Made from HSS or HSS Steel with Cobalt, these drill bits consist ideal tools for aircraft manufacturers, aircraft maintenance/repair stations or  industrial manufacturers, cost-effective alternatives to other OEM products and and stocked by our suppliers for fast deliveries. Offered in different types (stub, short or long), flute and overall lengths they are sold either separately (*) or in custom sets to address specific customer needs in machining applications.

Because of the difference in composition between HSS and Cobalt, main strengths of HSS drill bits are their high hardness and wear resistance. Therefore, as a general rule, they consist a better choice when you want your drill bits to retain their strength even when exposed to extreme wear or abuse. For higher hardenability, strength, and wear resistance and in applications when when drill bits are to be exposed to extremely high temperatures, cobalt drill bits should best be used.

For additional information please consult the supplied documentation or contact us.

(*) Minimum Order Quantities apply depending on the selected drill bits or their sets.

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA Grade...

Grade 410 is a basic general-purpose hardenable martensitic stainless steel alloy for highly stressed requirements, providing good corrosion resistance. Martensitic stainless steels are fabricated using techniques requiring final heat treatment. These grades are less resistant to corrosion when compared to those of austenitic. Their operating temperatures are often affected by their loss of strength at high temperatures, due to over-tempering and loss of ductility at sub-zero temperatures. Quenching and tempering can harden grade 410 steels while their corrosion resistance can be further enhanced by hardening, tempering and polishing.

410 is a very common grade used in many industries such as aerospace, power generation, and general industry. Generally used for applications requiring mild corrosion, heat resistance and high strength and ductility. Indicative examples include steam / gas turbine blades and buckets, bushings, valve components, fasteners, nuclear reactor control rod mechanisms, petrochemical equipment and machine parts.
