Piston engine oils (PEOs) are used in aircraft  to keep aircraft piston engines performing well and in good condition. They reduce friction between an engine’s moving parts, protect against shocks, cool internal areas, prevent rust and corrosion in highly finished internal parts, and keep the inside of the engine clean. They are generally made up of mineral oils fortified with materials such as non-metallic salts that make them able to withstand the conditions in which they’re used. They can also contain other properties, such as anti-wear additives, to meet a wider range of requirements.

Turbine engine oils (TEOs), also known as jet oils, turbo oils are specialty lubricants designed to support the operation of turbine engines. Apart from their lubricating function of the engine,  gearbox, shafts and associated accessories, TEOs have two additional functions. Their various additives protect the components from corrosion, and filter contaminants in the engine such as carbon deposits (coking) while TEOs are also used as heat transfer fluids, cooling the engine in temperatures reaching 1000°C, in turn extending the life of the oil up to 25,000 hours of operation. TEOs have been initially developed as mineral and and subsequently innovated to synthetic.

AEROSHELL® Sport Plus 4  from Shell Aviation is a second generation multi-grade piston engine oil specifically designed for use in light sport and very light/ultralight aircraft 4-stroke engines in any climate. It is the first aviation oil in the market that is BRP-Rotax tested and meets Rotax RON 424 OEM specification. AEROSHELL® Sport Plus 4  is suitable for BRP-ROTAX 912, 914, 912 iS engine series. AEROSHELL® 500 2nd...

AEROSHELL® 500 2nd Generation Synthetic Turbine Engine Oil from Shell Aviation is a 5 centistoke synthetic hindered ester oil incorporating additives to improve thermal and oxidational stability and also metal passivation. Developed essentially to meet the requirements of Pratt & Whitney 521 B Type II and MIL -L-23699 specifications, it is suitable for certain civil and military aero-engines requiring this class of lubricant but also approved for use in their industrial and marine derivatives which retain the essential design elements of their aviation versions. High Viscosity Index Synthetic Base Fluids used in AEROSHELL® Turbine Oil 500 maintain viscosity and protect components more effectively under the high shear stresses that a turbine system places on lubricants. The outstanding high temperature and oxidation stability of AEROSHELL® Turbine Oil 500 is due to the natural properties of the synthetic hindered ester base fluids used. These fluids are clean running in that they tend to dissolve varnish and sludge rather than leave deposits on working surfaces.

AEROSHELL® 750 Synthetic...

AEROSHELL® Turbine Oil 750 is a 7½ mm2 /s synthetic mixed ester oil containing a thickener and additives which provide excellent load carrying, thermal and oxidation stability. It was developed to meet the requirements of DERD 2487 (now DEF STAN 91-98) and provide a high standard of lubrication in British civil gas turbines, particularly turbo-prop engines where a good load carrying oil was required for the propeller reduction gearbox. AEROSHELL® Turbine Oil 750 is also approved by the Russian authorities as an analogue to MN-7.5u and for those Russian turbo-prop applications which require the use of mixtures of mineral turbine oil and aircraft piston engine oil. AEROSHELL® Turbine Oil 750 contains a synthetic ester oil and should not be used in contact with incompatible seal materials and it also affects some paints and plastics. AEROSHELL® W15W50 Multigrade Aviation Piston Engine Oil has been specifically developed for aviation piston engines. This premium semi-synthetic multigrade ashless dispersant oil is a special blend of a high quality mineral oil and synthetic hydrocarbons with an advanced additive package that has been specifically formulated for multigrade applications. The combination of non-metallic anti-wear additives and selected high viscosity index mineral and synthetic base oils, offer exceptional stability, dispersancy and anti-foaming performance. The advanced additive package in AEROSHELL® W15W50 oil provides excellent protection to aviation piston engines operating at extreme ambient temperatures. AEROSHELL® W100 SAE 50...

AEROSHELL® W100 SAE 50 Mineral Aviation Piston Engine Oil is a straight mineral oil blended from selected high viscosity index base oil. This oil does not contain any additives except for very small amounts of pour point depressant to improve fluidity at very low temperatures and an anti-oxidant. It is approved for all aviation civil aircraft piston engines when the use of an oil without a dispersant additive is required. It can also be used during the break-in of a new aviation piston engine or those recently overhauled. The specially blended high viscosity index base oil in AeroShell oil W100 has been designed to provide effective protection to engine components compared to conventional mineral oil. 

AEROSHELL® Oil W100 is produced to meet fully the SAE specification J-1966 (Grades SAE 50 respectively). Furthermore, it has military qualification approval and is listed on the Qualified Products List (QPL) issued by the US Navy and on the Technically Acceptable Products List (TAPL) issued by the UK Ministry of Defence. The blending plants employed to manufacture this oil also holds the approval of the specification authorities ensuring a high quality standard. AVIATIONEU NEW ERA...

AVIATIONEU NEW ERA product range of multigrade motor oils (indicated by the letter  "W") aim to ensure proper operation of the engine, wear and damage protection of different types of petrol, gas and diesel engines installed in passenger cars, vans and trucks. They contain a low-viscosity motor oil as well as various polymer additives. The additives have little effect at low temperatures, but cause the oil to thin down in hot conditions more slowly than usual.They come in different viscocity (SAE) grades to cover respective oil viscosity needs in different temperature ranges. NYCO TURBONYCOIL® 98 (Analog B-3V) is a synthetic ester-based oil for aircraft gas turbine engines and helicopter reducers. Made of a polyalkyleneglycol thickened diester it contains specific additives to improve its anti-oxidant properties. It is a lubricating oil with a viscosity of 7.5 cSt at 100°C. It is intended for the lubrication of some aircraft and marine turbine engines as well as accessory equipment, particularly on turboprop engines where a high viscosity oil is required to protect the gears from heavy wear. TURBONYCOIL®  98 is widely used on Russian-made helicopters as lubricant of the engine and the main rotor gearbox and complies with with the major requirements of Russian specifications TU 38 101295-85 and  B-3V. It has a viscosity of 8 cSt at 50°C. It has been designed for the lubrication of the majority of gas turbines of Russian design. It can also be used as an anti-corrosion oil in closed circuit (MS8RK). Used since the early 1990's on civil airliners such as Tu-134, Tu-154 and Il-76. EASTMAN Turbo Oil 2380™...

Eastman Turbo Oil 2380™ is a 5 cSt synthetic lubricant, approved against US military specification MIL-PRF-23699F STD, and UK military specification DEF STAN 91-101/2 (replaced DERD 2499). It is still one of the most widely used turbine oils in the commercial aviation industry and consists an ideal for Single Oil Fleet Solution. It was one of the first turbine oils to be qualified and approved for MIL-PRF-23699 STD (Standard) class and subsequently SAE AS5780 SPC (Standard Performance Capability) class. Eastman Turbo Oil 2380™ provides a balanced combination of thermal and oxidation stability, load carrying capacity, lower volatility and has the best low temperature flow characteristics of all 5 cSt turbine oils. It is recommended for the lubrication of most aircraft gas turbines and accessories. It is also recommended for the lubrication of aero-derived gas turbines in industrial power generation, offshore and marine applications.

a) PRESLIA mineral high-performance turbine lubricants for regulation and lubrication circuits of gas, steam and combined cycle turbines working at high temperatures. EXXONMOBIL® AVIATION Mobil Jet Oil 254 is a third-generation oil formulated to deliver exceptional high-temperature thermal stability  (HTS), excellent resistance to coking and deposit control as well as exceptional oxidation and corrosion protection. It meets the demanding requirements of latest technology  aircraft-type gas turbines operating over a wide range of severe operating conditions.  When compared to a typical Type II lubricant, Mobil Jet Oil 254 reduces bulk oil oxidation by up to 50 percent and shows deposit control capability 50 F higher.  These properties have been confirmed in various laboratory tests including; the Corrosion-Oxidation Stability Test,  Alcor Deposition Test, Vapor Phase Coker, Erdco High-Temperature Bearing Test, Ryder Gear and the Mobil Thin Film Oxidation Test.The closely controlled low-temperature viscosity of Mobil Jet Oil 254, along with its low pour point (below -54 ºC), ensure good low-temperature fluidity to permit starting and lubrication at temperatures as low as -40 ºC.  In extensive laboratory testing and in-flight experience, Mobil Jet Oil 254 also exhibits excellent bulk oil stability at temperatures up to 232 ºC (450 ºF) for extended periods.  The evaporation rate at these temperatures is low enough to prevent excessive loss of volume.  The load-carrying ability of Mobil Jet Oil 254 comes from its synthetic base stock viscosity and, therefore, is not subject to loss from viscosity index additive shear.
